Yeah

I’m only comparing him because JID is received a huge push the past 3 years. It’s clear interscope sees him as someone with huge crossover star potential (the next Kendrick).
All that is fair, I just don't like XV being brought into it since he didn't get a good shot like Cole, Kendrick, Sean, or even Big KRIT.

I think Interscope has tried to give JID some opportunities that Kendrick once used, including the Imagine Dragons thing. Which worked for both artists. However I don't think he or Dreamville are trying to be Kendrick/Cole. JID's singles aren't really "singles" if you know what I mean. He's big enough to tour nonstop and do festivals but seemingly can't go gold. He kinda feels like Schoolboy Q, but without the hits and certs. Is he interested in rapping over the type of beats, and getting the type of features he'd need to do 100k+ first week? I'm not sure. He's also like 32 years old. Kendrick is 35 lol. He looks/sounds younger than he is so maybe that helps him, but I kinda wonder if the next album regresses instead of takes the next step up.

Not gonna lie jid really stepped up and outside of himself for that last album…and it still wasn’t enough. I thought it was good but it wasn’t really memorable like that. He was personal like I’ve been wanting him to be but his hook game is still weak and his raps are good to great but he lacks charisma to really draw me in. I want to him to make it I just don’t know what it’s gonna take to get to that next level.

At this point I feel pretty confident in saying I doubt he’ll ever be a superstar, but he put out my favorite project last year so I don’t really GAF. Earthgang makes some good stuff but come off as try hard at times. Maybe it’s just me tho

Nah Earthgang makes slappers. JID can rap but his voice is too annoying and he too punchline heavy.

Most JID will be is like an XV if you remember that rapper lol.
Old post but Ngl this really got me questioning this

I don’t follow these newer dudes nowadays but I feel like this JID dude don’t got a song bigger than XV had with Awesome back in 2011. He still never got to drop that album but that song got pretty good play back then

He ain't that big lol. Name a song with googling it.

I can’t because I really don’t listen to JID like that but it’s undeniable that JID has more recognition in the industry. XV is very underground compared to him

For the record I like XV, just thought it was a funny comparison

JID was never gonna get past sounding like one of Kendrick's flows

He can rap his ass off but unless he drastically changes his flow he'll be what he's always been

Can they, sure, anything can happen. Is it likely, no. But I at least see JID mentioned in various outlets, earthgang, never.
Earthgang fell into the comparison hole early which is the problem with people rushing to compare new acts to the past

Once I saw the OutKast comparisons I knew it was a wrap on them nikkas
