Africa doesn't need religion. Africa needs a united economic and political agenda to solve its issues. Outside religion has always been used as a tool of conquest and enslavement throughout Africa for many centuries. Islam was spread throughout Africa to the detriment of many Africans who became enslaved by the very people brought the religion. Remember, Arabs were the first enslavers of Africans WAY BEFORE any Europeans even dared to cross the sea, and they came on the back of Islam.
Black people need to stop thinking in terms of some spiritual solution saving them from their woes. We need to get down to nuts and bolts of nationhood. Nations are built by people who have a strong understanding of structure, law, custom and most importantly, an overall vision for its people. We also must get an understanding of politics because historically we have been inept at using politics as a tool.
Also, if we're on the topic of Africa getting itself together, then Africans must find a way to put aside tribalism and seek the greater good of all its people. Tribalism has been the detriment of Africa for so long that its laughable how Africans have not learned how others have and still use it against them. Yes, I understand tribes take their culture and practices very seriously. But Africa hasn't been the whipping boy of Western civilization because people are looking to disenfranchise their tribes...they're looking to disenfranchise African people in general for the use of the natural resources that are literally under their feet.
Quite honestly, I think using Islam as the "savior" of Africa would be laughable, disingenuous and damn near detrimental considering the historical context of the religion within the continent.

I agree with a lot of what you said.
I think they question is just to tough. Africa is a continent not a country. I mean if they could some how come together or make some type of union based on the principles you expressed then I think they could really help themselves.
