That's why when Life Is Good dropped it had mad buzz right? shyt was twitter trending from young to old. Mad young artists was having him feature on they albums. All that. All cause he's irrelevant. nikka he's 40 plus and a 20 plus year vet. He's beyond all that. Same as Jay. They're not looked at in that way.

not really

if LIG had the streets on fire, i'd be impressed. f*ck a twitter.

jay is bigger than rap. you cant compare him to nas.
and even with jay, aint nobody clamoring for a new jay record either. he just throws a ridiculous amount of promotion behind his projects. i'd much rather hear a nas album actually. at least nas is still credible.

People outside of the internet were rating that album though, brought Nas back in a lot people conscious

This thread is interesting. I only found it because i saw a video of dmx at the lakers game and i wanted to see if any threads were started about it.
For me whilst nas top level is better than x and his albums were better than x,from 98 till 2003 with regards to the impact he made and hit records he had i will have to go with dmx.
I dont think there has ever been a rapper that came with so many hit records that you can play on the radio and that was on some raw gangsta shyt..
I also think dmxs bottom level was much higher than nas. Some of those nas songs where he tried to sing were painful to listen to.
Basically if you said nas thats cool and i respect your opinion but a convo is definitely there to be had.
Albums released nas >>> dmx
Singles released dmx >>> nas
Less trash songs dmx >>> nas
Higher peak nas >>> dmx
Versatility dmx >>> nas

I'd say X's peak was higher, but Nas' longevity puts him over the edge.

This is actually closer then people realize.
A few changes in history and this could easily swing the other way.

Re-listening to DMX's work right now. You could argue he's a better overall rapper.

Exactly theres definitely a case to be made.
Listening to that track proves this.

nas has a masterpiece "illmatic" and whats considered the greatest hip hop album of all time

nas has 4 other classics albums if you ask me "it was written" "lost tapes" "stillmatic" & "gods son"

:wow:

dmx ruined his legacy and decided to get back on the glass dikk a day before the san diego show i was going to go to :to:
Gods Son has classic songs, but a classic album, it is not

X never really had any substance to me.Not consistently, at least.

Always seemed like the missing member of Onyx, with a horrorcore twist.

He's pure adrenaline rush/workout music to me.

I don't see the Pac comparisons, neither.Maybe physical/energy wise

but musically, Pac was a lot more poetic/soulful.I'd even say spiritual.

X couldn't hit you with a White Man's World.X's generic prayer skits always made him come off superficial to me.

I know some folks was digging it, but it's was never that original IMO
