C'mon son let's not pretend nas was this fashionista that influenced the way dudes dress. He was a rapping ass nikka and that's where it ends

Wu tang/Run Dmc > Nas as far as fashion is concerned

Huh? Nas has been one of the most fashionable rappers out since day one :gucci:

Seriously, the gap between Nas and DMX's fashion game is even wider.

Look up Kanye interviews from the 2000s. He talked in Vibe back in 2004 how much Nas influenced his swag

The half moon fade, the army lining jacket, bringing back the gold dookie ropes in the 2000s

Did OP actually say Nas has not influenced anyone from the younger generation........:mindblown:

Lupe
Kendrick
Joey Badass
On and on of actual high caliber lyricists

none of these people are the younger generation, except joey bad ass.

these people are all 30-40.

the OP is like 21 breh.

U made my point. He's on the biggest compilation of the year. It was chosen as a single over the many other songs on there. Young people bumpin it. And it's not like Nas is more friends wit him than alotta cats on that album. Son there was Rick Ross. Future. Lil Wayne. French Montana. J Cole. Kendrick Lamar. Chris Brown. Bryson Tiller. Big Sean. Travis Scott. Wiz Khalifa etc etc on that album. And he chose a Jay Z song. A Drake song. And a Nas song as his main singles. U don't really have an argument fam. Lol

breh. youre not slick.

youre trying to paint a picture that 19 year old are checking for nas.

chit, when I was 19, we were falling back on nas, and I'm 32 now.:heh:

Why? Rtd/LAD vs dmx first 3?

yea lets go.

I might take DMX.

:what: All Nas albums are at least 2 years apart. And besides that, that was the norm back then, AT LEAST 2 years between albums. The only rappers dropping joints every year was Ice Cube and Jay Z (I'm sure there was probably a couple of others but they're the prominent ones I remember off top). I Am/Nastradamus was supposed to be a double album so the fact they released that within one year doesn't count.

Nas Illmatic 94-IWW 96-I Am 98
Redman Whut 92-Dare 94-Muddy 96-Docs 98
Bone Eternal 95-AOW 97 then I think BTNH is 2000

"You Owe Me" wasn't a hit with purists, but it was still a hit nonetheless. Same goes for "Oochie Wally". In between albums Nas had songs on soundtracks, several guest features, and a compilation.

I think what @MIAlien is trying to say is that nas was cold during that period between nastradamus & stillmatic.

those albums are over 2 years apart, during a changing of the guard time period, with nastradamus being a dud, qbs finest flopped(@spliz), and the most notable stuff he did was appear on commercial records. best thing he had a hand in was oochie wally, where he got outshined by his weed carriers.

people thought he was done. that's the reason why jay felt comfortable going at nas neck the way he did.

I'm saying lol. From the fade to his threads, Nas has always been considered one of the most fashionable rappers since the 90s.

To even bring fashion into the argument considering the stuff DMX was wearing shows that dude is just pulling straws at this point. He just doesn't like Nas.

In fact I can't even believe this thread managed 13 pages. Love DMX, but DMX himself doesn't even believe he's in Nas' class. There's no case to be made

I'm not slick. 19 year olds are checking for Nas. U just seen a vid last year of Rae Scremmurd bumpin Nas shyt. But either way. fukk 19 year olds. That nikka market ain't them in the first place. It doesn't mean he's irrelevant. When u were 19 Nas dropped SD. Plenty people fell back on Nas a lil for that album. Even tho the critics was dikkriding it when it dropped. And people did fukk wit Just A Moment. But that shyt has nothing to do with now or last year. Terrible argument.

nas aint really been poppin like that since 03 breh.

he just has a combination of a loyal supportive stanbase, while making moves to stay afloat in the industry.
nothing wrong with that, but if he never made another album again, nobody would care besides his diehard fans. I don't consider that relevant. sorry.

That's why when Life Is Good dropped it had mad buzz right? shyt was twitter trending from young to old. Mad young artists was having him feature on they albums. All that. All cause he's irrelevant. nikka he's 40 plus and a 20 plus year vet. He's beyond all that. Same as Jay. They're not looked at in that way.
