How u lose 10k?
cash in a pocket of his jacket or pants... we were at a dimsum spot. he didn't realize till we left but he dropped it in the restaurant because that was the last place he had it.. obviously the money was gone. he was probably on his way to a pick up. He would get goods in bulk and flip them to us. He couldn't re-up so we all starved for a while :mjcry:

Facts! Only thing really better then was the budgets. But if you’re willing to work and do shows, you could live a very good life with no hit records. shyt if Cam was out now with what he had after two albums (Horse and Carriage, 357, What Means the World) he’d easily be making 20K a show and probably getting 6-7 bookings a month.
That's what I've been saying, labels not being as reckless with money != no money is is left in the profession.
Just like banks aren't as reckless in 2017 as they were back before the financial crisis, doesn't mean that they don't have money.

Another thing that must've slowed down was the publishing checks but with streaming those things should be picking up again.

I wonder why it shows became so popular in the past 10 years and I know they've had been popular but it seems like that is the best route for Independent Artists now.

We need to ask somebody why the live show has become such a money maker @itsyoung!!

not exactly hard to figure out... book a club appearance in another state, go there, do features ($), radio/guest appearances ($), and then get paid to go to the club and do a few songs at most.

goes into the artist pocket especially if independent
I'd add the popularity of social media & club mainly strip clubs becoming more "accepted" had an effect also.

I've noticed a lot Artist I follow on IG will be in a state for the weekend and constantly making stories like "yo I'm performing in North Carolina this weekend anyone who wants a feature DM me"

I feel like that cult following is way more lucrative for artist nowadays

How he lose the check? :hhh: What the fukk, that could never had been me.

At least that motivated him to be where he is now and he ain't let that send him down to the bottom of the barrel.
Cam a known liar.

But if you broke after multiple successful albums what kinda deals you signed nikka? :gucci:
720 deals.

Not hard to believe though I mean look at TLC. A lot of artist are broke and fronting in hiphop and the deals suck until you learn the hard way and get leverage on your renegotiation usually.

TYRONE GA!
Tribe made around 30k each off that album. If you know the cost of living in NY then you know 30k isn't shyt.

Cam was broke before the Roc deal because Untertainment folded and he got absorbed into a machine that didn't give a fukk about him until Dame ran up in the Sony building barking on people for him. I think that's when Cam realized that he had to diversify his business.

even then, touring is where cats made their bread. That's how most artists ate. And yeah, they commanded 20k a show even back then.

Yup....

I remember Chuck D. saying while he was still waiting for the royalties to come thru from the platinum swelling IT TAKES A NATION LP he had to keep his day job at a long island record store

Or the countless artists rap AND R&B who have resorted to illegal side hustles not to just support thier lifestyles but pay the bills as well....

:manny:

Its funny we speaking of Cam who was getting it in Ohio...

Cause a host of others WU TANG CLAN for example were "getting to that bag" in the streets as well (gun running..drug trafficking)
Wu tang nikkas ran through Ohio :wow:

Even recruited Ohio street dudes into the Wu Tang organization ( Killa Army)
:wow:
