I'm sure most of you will remember that Joe was actually the underdog coming into this. Lacy was supposed to be the 168 version of Tyson. An unstoppable power puncher. Most predictions had Lacy running through Joe and if anybody had Joe winning it was by either slapping and running away or hometown decision. Instead, Joe got in Jeff's face the entire 12 rounds and boxed the shyt outta him.

I will say this fight went on way too fukking long. Lacy was already looking  in the corner after round 3 and he was pretty much out on his feet from round 7 on. His corner should've pulled him some time after that.

Can anybody else think of a title fight where the favorite gets completely embarrassed on a near historic level like this?

Joe in the post fight interview looked like he just came back from a jog rather than a 12 round boxing match. :whew:

Now, I know some of you are gonna say "But, but Lacy was always overrated and was never any good. He didn't do shyt after this fight"
That's cause Joe took his soul brehs :wow:

Whenever I hear somebody use the words, "dominated, ass kicking, embarrassed, schooled" to describe a fight. This is the type of performance I expect to see and it's usually the first fight that comes to mind when I hear one-sided. The only fight more one-sided than this that instantly comes to mind is Roy Jones vs Richard Hall.

Calzaghe gave that boy Lacy all types of problems in that fight. You have fights that are one-sided, but at least the rounds are competitive, but this was one of those fights that was one-sided down to every minute of the round. Lacy prolly landed 5 decent punches that whole night that didn't do anything.

His corner definitely let him down by not stopping it. This fight ruined dude. Then he went on to take one-sided ass whuppings from Taylor and Roy and that was that.

Calzaghe should have taken on the world after this fight. Perfect coming out party, but we all know what happened after that.

Politics :smh: HBO was :gladbron: that they had a new UK star and set him up with some soft touches
Even Joe was like :shaq2: at fighting Bika and Manfredo. I respect him a lot for taking the fight vs. Kessler before moving up. He worked Kessler too. Although, obviously nowhere near the beating the Lacy fight was.

Callaghan dismantled Lacy and basically ruined his career.
A prime example of a guy who was hyped up like crazy without facing any real comp and then got exposed once he was put in the ring with a top level fighter.

Floyd Mayweather vs Arturo Gatti was the most lopsided fight I've ever witnessed.

Easily
Yeah, that's definitely up there but at least it was to be expected.

The most lopsided fight I've seen recently that I thought going in would be competitive was Andre Ward's thorough dismantling of Chad Dawson.

Yeah.....he beat Chad's ass to the point he literally said "I'm done" to the ref and quit the fight:heh:

LOL @ people who hyped Lacy up, giving these stans false ammunition

dude had struggled with Omar Shieka FFS.

he did, but at the same time, nobody was sold on joe except people overseas. wasn't like he fought anyone worth mentioning but i don't think its his fault. 168 back then, isn't as strong as it is today. guys like robin reid, mario veit, byron mitchell, markus beyer and sven ottke :snoop: where top guys of the division. not even gonna lie, i became a fan of joe after the kessler fight. :manny:
