I only say “nikka” around my closest friends and I don’t think it’s derogatory. It’s a part of African-American culture and erasing it won’t stop us from treating each other like we are nikkas. How are your actions towards other Black men and women?

I agree with all this. But "nikka" has been used by black people even today as a verbal manifestation of all that's gone wrong in black society. So either we truly change the word, remove it from the public sphere completely, or remove it from our vocabulary in its entirety.
