The heights
all I suggested was that Jayden is elevating Kliff more than Kliff is elevating Jayden. I say that because I think Jayden is truly a transcendent talent. I even made sure to clarify Iā€™m not suggesting Kliff isnā€™t doing a good job, obviously heā€™s done well with the offense. I still think itā€™s a fair take. The reality is they are both helping each other out.
Breh bum azz Marcus Mariota had a similar game to Jayden Daniels today :skip: Jayden isn't elevating kliff I will give Jayden his props Breh is balling this year and will be great for years to come but kliff is a huge reason for his success

they beat a Cowboys team that was playing for nothing, I donā€™t think it settles anything. we saw Kliff for 4 years in AZ

letā€™s put it this way, I donā€™t think Kliff could have had the success with Bo Nix he had with Jayden, but I 100% believe Jayden would have shined in Denver

again though, this was never about Jayden/Kliff, it was more about Poles and his lack of attention paid to Jayden during the draft process

naw that boys team been playing hard all year. I don't think they just rolled over.

Mariota came in a game earlier this year and balled the fukk out there as well. Kliff is doing work over there and Jayden is the perfect muse for him, both things can be tru :manny:

Iā€™ll agree that both things can be true. I never tried suggesting Kliff was being carried, I just put more of the success on Jayden and his abilities than Kliffs coaching. Itā€™s been great for both of them, both are benefiting from each other obviously

Im just learning now that Ben Johnson's agent is also the founder / CEO of the QB Collective ... aka the place where Caleb has been receiving his private QB training for years now, hes like their most notable pupil in terms of prospect notoriety

Also where Shane Waldron secretly held so much weight as he is/was also a part of that camp.

Aye I'm not necessarily shytting on the Johnson connection thing. It's just sometimes things look dope on paper when you look at outside the field stuff and it just doesn't pan out. Waldron being in that group was a big tip on scooping him up since Caleb was involved, and being the OC for Gino showing that relatively proven experience. The play diversity in preseason had me sold as well. :manny:

But it just didn't pan out.

Basically let's focus on the right stuff. It didn't work before. Nose to the grindstone to sort out game results for the best candidate.

Im not saying Ben Johnsons strong connection to the QB Collective means he will be a good HC, I just think it points that getting him hired in Chicago seems all the more likely once you realize his agent is the CEO/Founder. Caleb has been working with that group since he was in HS. He was like their prized pupil since he was such a high level blue chip prospect.

Drake Maye also has connections dating back to HS with the QB Collective, so its not terribly surpising that Ben Johnson is going to interview there as well (but I think most signs point to Vrabel in NE)

Caleb's connections with that Collective are DEEP. Its a near certainty that Caleb & his "team" are communing to Ben Johnsons agent who is the CEO/Founder there.

and yes, its certainly why Waldron was hired to be the OC here -- which only leads me more to believe that Ben Johnson will end up in Chicago

Im going to be excited if they bring in Ben Johnson based on what hes done in Detroit. My excitement doesnt mean hes gonna be a a great HC. Its not my job to interview and evaluate these guys, Im only looking from the surface. Thats why I dont feel stupid for being excited about Waldron when we hired him as OC, on paper it made sense. Obviously he sucked, but thats not some indictment on the fans for being excited, its a failure of the front office for how they evaluated him.

I guess I'm just running off at the fingers here but I just want someone that is known to make it work. QB Collective is cool and feeds on the narrative, but for me please just focus on the track record. It certainly helps to know the QB, and being honest plucking the big cheese coach in that collective would be the right idea. I just don't want it to be anything that is instrumental in the hiring part.

I do want Ben Johnson hired. Ben has made it work on the creativity, execution, the coaching on the offensive side for the Lions. Less "it was really XYZ" and moreso Ben Johnson's hands on it. That's what I want.

Also why I'm not too perturbed about floating names like Flores around. He's shown the ability to work out the defensive side. I'm not negative about it because it shows the right (IMO) line of thinking to focus on their ability to bring that side of the team up. I don't really want Flores for HC, but you get what I mean when I say they're showing good in focusing on the track record.

Now with that, I hope this won't be a case of say, Vic Fangio. Excellent DC but it just didn't work out for HC for him. :sadcam:

I 100% agree there - the hire should be on merit and the belief the coach will be successful, not because of his associations, but because of noted accomplishments and the vision they can demonstrate in the interview process.

Im excited about Ben Johnson, because hes near unanimously regarded as the best offensive minded HC candidate available. We need an injection on offense and we need someone that can ensure Calebs talent is maximized and that he is developed well.

I also totally get the thought of pursuing someone with track record of success as a HC, like Vrabel -- but its likely the success of this team long term is dependent on Caleb and his growth. Whoever comes in needs to be able to clearly demonstrate how they will develop Caleb and I would put a multiplier on that in the interview process
