Idk if it was mentioned but.... have u lil kids seen space jam? Well then youve heard an eagles song.

Desperado is my shyt too... and peaceful easy feeling.

And like dude above said it was neck and neck with thriller in the usa but those are just estimates until someone pays for the riaa certification... then you get a more exact number. Thats why it can jump ahead so far like that. If they recertified thriller today it would prolly be a few times more plat as well.

I dont think the eagles are down with anyone sampling their records either. You never hear it. I got an advanced acetate demo disc of the DOC's 3rd album deuce and it has an unreleased intro with doc spittin some poetry over a hotel california sample that had to be cut because it was never cleared by the band.

I wanna say it was circa 98-2000 or something but i remember when tye eagles album dropped it was a huge suprise how much it sold. Before that time i thought the number one old school white band was the beatles but ever since then the eagles squeezed their way into the convo.

Good tunes tho.

Ima keep it 100. I've never heard anybody in my life ever say they like the Eagles or heard anybody singing a song from them. Nobody.

And I've only heard hotel California played once on the radio and it was on xm satellite radio. Them and some guitar riff they play in those classic songs from the 60s and 70s infommercials during TV channels off hours. So I just wanna know who these eagles fans are. Seeing an actual eagle fan in person or even online is like seeing a fukking unicorn or a pig flying.

The Eagles some undeniably classic songs but overall they're boring as fukk. It's depressing thinking that the best America had to offer in terms of 70s rock was...The Eagles...while The Rolling Stones were at their creative peak.
:hhh:

People really think they're an amazing band with classic albums smh.
No rock band in history has ever played it safe like the Eagles played it safe.

A lot of their songs, while classic, come off as derivative of their past songs. Take away the guitar overdubs and slow down the tempo of Take It Easy, you get Peaceful Easy Feeling. Speed up the tempo of On The Border and re-arrange a few chords, you get Life In The Fast Lane. Never mind the fact that Victim Of Love sounds too similar to Witchy Woman.

Hell, one of my co-workers flat out told me that the Eagles represented everything that was wrong with rock during the 70s.

Tbh I haven't heard of the eagles and hotel California until adulthood. I was raised on mostly funk, R&B and hip hop growing up. Frank ocean did a great job at using their melody on nostalgia-Ultra though.

Eagles one of the greatest rock bands of all time :yeshrug: and they probably got a bump in sales after Glenn Frey passed away in 2016.

"Desperado", "Lyin' Eyes", "Witchy Woman", "I Can't Tell You Why", "Take It Easy", "Heartache Tonight", the whole damn Hotel California album, "In the City" (the original version appeared in The Warriors movie) :ohlawd:

i dont know about the charts but older white people dont stream music like that so that wouldnt really factor in
But they aren’t in the top 50 catalog album chart either. Thriller is always there. The only time it was higher than Thriller was 2016. So where are the sales coming from?
People arent buying albums like that, young or old.

LMAO @ The Spin for this. The Eagles are a Legendary Band from the Physical Era, I won't hate but the fact is "Compilation" LP's have never EVER been compared to Studio Solo Albums. Yet all these magazines are making a big deal about this when both albums have pretty much been even for years domestically with them going back and forth. One of the band members did recently pass so I expected a boost. "Thriller" was an original body of work as a Solo album. "Eagles: Greatest Hits" was a Compilation LP of the bands greatest hits up to that point. Michael album was full of Greatest Hits as a Solo Album. The Eagles took their best songs and put it on one album. Nothing wrong with that but that "Greatest Hits" LP can not and should not be compared to an original body of work like "Thriller". How the in hell is a "Greatest Hits" album being compared to an original body of work? They been trying to take Michael's records for years. Billboard had the nerve to say Adele's "21" was bigger than "Thriller" which it didn't have more weeks at #1 and didn't have the sales. Eagles haven't been re-certified in years so again I'm not surprised by their sales but Michael's music should still be higher than theirs as he's been one of the most streamed artist since his death almost 10 years ago. Look, nothing is bigger than "Thriller". These magazine and publications always wrote slick articles about Michael and hated on his success. "Thriller" is the Biggest Album of All Time. Plus the Guinness Book of World Records already gave Michael the Award for "Thriller" overall totals. The GOAT will never be Dethroned.

Add to the fact that the Eagles best album was Hotel California and word around the campfire was that there was some heavy politicking going on from Irving Azoff to make it Album Of The Year back in 1977(even though it was released in 1976). Like I said earlier, Mike WILL get that spot back.
