FIFA were "threatening" to ban Switzerland over FC Basle for the longest, a gang of deadlines and shyt. Meanwhile they go all Rodney King on Nigeria:mjpls:

This isnt the 80s though. its not just a matter of how many defenders they throw on Messi. Opposing teams have completely cut off passing angles, and without Di Maria he has to drop back to the half way line to get the ball.
Not the passing angles :damn:

Do you brehs honestly believe this concept was dreamt up yesterday? Do you honestly believe these new teams, with oafs from teams like Aston Villa, are revolutionising defending? :heh:

Its the arrogance of modernity, but even that alone cannot explain Messis praise at this World Cup because hes not even dominating today

In all the tournaments where a player ascended to greatness, they were at least the best in that tournament. Maradona proved he was the best amongst peers in 86, therefore the next logical step was for people to wonder if he where he sits amoung the best ever. Pele in 58, Platini in 84, Cruyff 74 and so on. Meanwhile people are telling me Messi is cementing his place as the best ever and hes not even proving hes the best amoung contemporaries? What is this? :wtf:

So him making the difference in 4 out of 6 matches for his team & being their best player along with their captain isn't enough.

LOL, always a way to discredit. Firs it was win the World Cup & if he does, people will STILL discredit him! Haha.

Before the tournament I said all he needed to do to satisfy me was play a starring role in a semi final run but I thought theyd beat teams outright :whoa:

They havent beaten anybody yet and when watching Messi it hasnt struck me that i'm watching something thats never been before, i'm sorry.

He doesnt even need to win the final, I just want him to be noticable for extended periods in the match :sadbron:

At the moment I rank Messis performance at the WC as about the 78th most impressive ive ever seen from an attacker, tucked in behind Letchkov of Bulgaria.

in 2010 germany and argentina entered the semi final as the 2 highest scoring teams. Germany exposed by dude maradona for being a fraud coach by scoring on him.

this time around argentina isn't a high scoring team but has one dangerous player who can and has been contained.

germany has also shown many times they can score at will. ghana got possessed and scored 2 on them and they scored shortly afterwards.
they scored early on france just like they scored early on argentina in 2010.

I hope this coach knows his history and learned something. he doesn't wanna look like scolari or maradona out there.

I think regardless of what he knows, germany will pump at least 3 in argentina's ass..

Stat by stat comparison of Germany and Argentina.

Matches Played
GER: 6
ARG: 6

Goals scored
GER: 17
ARG: 7

Goals per match
GER: 2.8
ARG: 1.2

Shots on target (%)
GER: 70%
ARG: 60%

Attempts per match
GER: 14.7
ARG: 15.8

Fouls Committed
GER: 71
ARG: 64

Yellow cards
GER: 4
ARG: 6

Red Cards
None

Distance per match
GER: 116 km
ARG: 113.9 km

Passes Completed
GER: 3421
ARG: 2928

Passes Completion Rate
GER: 80%
ARG: 80%

Most amazing thing here is that Argentina actually has more attempts on goal per game than Germany, but has a whopping ten less goals, and almost two less goals per match. So while Argentina is the top-ranked attacking team of the tourney, Germany is clearly more efficient in their attacks.

Both teams have an equal pass completion rate. Actually, these two teams are the top two passing sides of the entire tournament. But Germany has completed far more passes, probably because all of Argentina's passes end with Messi, whereas Germany spreads their possession among more players. Mascherano is clearly the best passer of the tournament so far, but the two next best passers are Kroos and Lahm, with Schweinsteiger, Boateng, and Mertesacker also in the top 10. Gago and Garay are 9th and 10th, but the overall point is that Germany has more well-rounded players who contribute to the passing game than Argentina.

Really, the more I look at the stats, the clearer it is that Mascherano is what makes the whole Argentinian team work. He's the best passer and a top 5 defensive player in this tournament. If Germany marks Mascherano out of the game, Messi will have to drop deeper and deeper to get the ball. The job will likely fall to Schweinsteiger or Kroos.
