this was my assumption. the fact that calderon is penciled in as the starter at this point is a slap in the face. who cares if he averaged 7.6ppg to grants 5.6 :manny:
Grant only averaged so low because of the Knicks coaching not properly developing him and giving him meaningful minutes.

They were playing him in spurts like he was a Rookie only after 1 year of college.

Dude spend 4 full years in College... Let that man cook... he'll be a nice piece.

Barnes is just:francis:

Conley is to too old for what we say we're trying to do
He's also not worth it.

Conley/Jimmy backcourt ain't putting this team in the upper echelon of the East let alone the NBA

I dont either, but Im just saying Barnes fits into what Gar is saying right now

They way hes talking, I think he might do something stupid in FA
Mediocrity at it's finest.

If they do plan on going after a SF, then I hope they look into trading some of these guys on the roster... I'd rather come up with a package for Bledsoe than sign Conley.

For wing FAs, I prefer them go after Batum and Bazemore before Barnes :ld:

Bledsoe
Jimmy
Batum
??? (whoever's there after a deal with PHX)
Lopez

:ehh:

That would be a great 'retool'...

I don't get the fascination with Barnes at all @Noah Truth and this was before he played like shyt in the finals, especially since it's gonna take at least 20M to get him here.

Oh don't get me wrong. I NEVER said I'm fascinated with Barnes. Just that I like him as a fit next to Jimmy long term. If we're talking about realistic free agents, there honestly aren't that many available to us so Barnes is more of a consolation prize. You know, the prize we always end up with (see Pau, Ben Wallace, Boozer, etc.)

Nah we don't need to be looking for a PG in FA and lock up some marginally good player long term. We just traded for Grant and drafted Valentine, two 4-year college players who can both play point. I'd much rather see what they bring to the table and work out the kinks NEXT summer.

If there were any year to have a throwaway season and tank, it would be this year.

I don't think they are going to do that though. They are trying to save face with this Hoiberg hire, so I don't see them tanking at all. Especially with Jimmy still on the roster. I hope I'm wrong, but I see them with a panic signing this summer that will handicap us after this year.

But it's not like this franchise will ever be the favorites in signing a major player anyway.

I'm sure they wont try and purposely tank but one look at that roster, I don't think thats their decision to make :francis:

Throwing max at Barnes in desperation is what will probably happen, not a fan of his but I feel like he'll complement Jimmy well.

dogs...i really don't want Barnes...I think he's so trash, and we're gonna be relying on such a trash player with such a crazy contract...he's not the type of player I want...It's not grit to him..I need at least that...I can't stand that nikka's neck...he's black, but moves around like a white player...looks tentative like Snell...I just don't like the cut of this nikkas jib...my gut says stay away

300 murders a year
the issue with the bulls is they have a front office that clearly has poor relationships around the league. they burned a lot of bridges with how they have treated players and personnel, and this is why they can only pull of moves where either they are salary dumping in which most teams can agree to, but big trades with bodies moving and talent moving the bulls only have a few trade partners as its clear everyone else in the league cant stand these dudes. thats why you can see pieces like aaron afflalo, batum, etc get moved to teams for a bucket of chicken and a 2nd rd pick but with the bulls its always a power struggle. that is why they prefer free agency where they can cut out the gms, than trading for assets with guys who dont like them. i can bet whatever that the trade with minny broke down because gar was insulted and bitter that he was on the phone with a thibs he fired and hates seeing him in a position of power with a better future than what gar has.

its why they prefer to build through the draft, again it keeps them from the power struggle with other front offices.

we are not getting to that elite level until gar forman and john paxson is gone and a guy with a better rep around the league can come into the fold.
