Rose has always been one to be optimistic. He only repeating what others have probably said to him to "look on the bright side" and honestly for him personally this was a successful season for him if you add the context of injury plagued seasons before. I mean damn some of yall just said the exact same thing but if he says it, he trolling? lol

As far as the question of what can make the team better, there literally is no answer he could give they wouldn't attack, because rose is the easy target and punching bag and the front office won't step in and protect him cause they rather he take the blows.

If he says, we all need to be better, he will get killed like he blaming others when he should be blaming himself

If he talks about changes to the roster he looks selfish like he throwing shots at his teammates in which he still gets killed for blaming others

And it totally goes bad if he takes shots at the coach or front office.

Honestly saying he don't know was the best answer he could give.

This team desperately needs a leader, and I would have liked him to step up and be that guy. He just doesn't seem interested in it. Feels like he has conceded this team to Jimmy and will leave next year

Rose has never been that vocal leader tho breh. I mean never.

As far as the jimmy situation, there is literally nothing he can do to smooth everyone over on that one, if he fights for the leading spot over jimmy he will get killed for being selfish and arrogant, if he concedes that spot to jimmy he will get killed for being disengaged and uninterested in staying with the team. So it's lose lose for a city only wanting to attack jimmy and rose, and a media looking for anything to keep garpax and Jerry in the clear.

I personally don't have any interest in analyzing every rose and jimmy comment. Simply because I know none of this is their fault. This is all on the front office. They blew it.

There's a Mike McGraw AMA going on right now on /r/chicagobulls.......and some of his replies are quite depressing. :francis:

AMA with Daily Herald's Mike McGraw • /r/chicagobulls
He only saying what we know, gar pax not going anywhere, minimal will be done out side of adding a draft pick and a couple cheap additions, maybe noah comes back. It's all I expect.

We need a lot and don't have a front office that gets it done and make the big things happen. Add in how stupid we look in the thibs situation and we can expect to probably be worst next season. We are a thin line from being Orlando or the Knicks next season.

I don't think Derrick cares what the media says though. So I don't think he chooses his words based on that

The team not being in the playoffs with leader Jimmy is the perfect time for him to come out and sound like our franchise player

Im not saying I disagree with what he's saying, it's just disheartening that he doesn't seem fully invested to the Chicago Bulls anymore

My overall point is that he's leaving, and if that's the case, next year is just going to be much of the same

We all see the writing on the wall. And I'm sure he does too. Not the best way to express it via the media, but that's not his strong suit anyway lol

On one hand i'm saying 1 more year with us being healthy, On the other hand i'm saying will this team truely ever be healthy.

The obvious moves is garpax has to go. They both just do. We need a fresh perspective on getting talent and resources on this team.

Fred should be gone but with all the injuries he kind of get's a pass for this season, but he hasn't shown anything dynamic or worth being able to coach this team.

What do we do with noah, it's obvious he's the vocal leader of this team and his defense (Regardless of other injuries or not) is one of the reasons we were good over these last few years.

MDJ can kick rocks, I like to see pau back but maybe off the bench. Portis is getting better and gibson is probably at his peak now.

Rose and butler just have to stay healthy. We need an athletic backup to Jimmy so that when he's hurt or out of the game our defense does not suffer. Mcdermot can't fill that void.

I think it was the Tribune

Just him talking about how this season was a success for him. They ask him how he will attack the offseason and try to get back to his level of play and he kinda scoffs and just says he's going to enjoy the extra time off and hang with his kid. And then his patented 'I don't know' answer about how the team can get better.

All that is fine and well and he's probably jus being honest, but it REALLY sounds like he doesn't want/think about being with this team long term

Hes bouncing next offseason for sure imo
Think I found the article...

“Just putting in work, man,’’ Rose said. “I mean this is a big summer coming up for me, as far as working out, staying at peace with myself, keeping calm, being with my son.

“Depending on how the season ends I may have more time. If anything I’ll be able to be around him more, so as far as working out with players, that’s cool, but my main concern is my son right now if the season was to end.’’

:jbhmm:

He def checked out the last 10 games or so of this season IMO. Now the real question is whether or not he'll even care about playing after he gets another big contract. He honestly sounds like he isn't even enjoying playing, it's all for his family/kid at this point. Might be a case where he goes hard in his contract year, gets paid and then says fukk it. Mentally... this is not the same Derrick Rose that we watched early on and even after the first ACL tear.

Derrick Rose used to say ignorantly confident shyt to the media. From the jump, he had the utmost confidence in himself. He demanded the most out of himself at all times... this is the same kid that said he would die on the court... the same kid that said no matter how many times he ripped up his knee he would continue to go hard and give it his all.

Random shyt I remember Rose saying:
- I'm wearing number 1 because I want to be the best player at my position
- Why can't I be the MVP of the league???
- I'm the best player in the league

:what:

His comments lately and for the last year or so is proof that this isn't the same guy. He wasn't a vocal leader, but he lead by example. He completely played bytch to Jimmy Butler this season. Literally would pass Jimmy the ball and go stand in a corner and just watch.

Derrick Rose showed me a lot this year. He used to be a lethal closer, get him the ball when healthy and good things happen. This year, he showed he still could close and hit some clutch baskets, but where did all that go in these last few games? Dude completely checked out, and I'm starting to think he's content with just not hurting himself more than being truly a great player again.

I actually think he'll stay if the situation is right not just money.
If we winning, he will stay

If we losing, he will leave

We can pretty much say that for any player who has free agency coming. If okc just missed the playoffs 2 years in a row, durant is gone, lebron leaving and he making the finals lol. Players leave bad situations, it's just what happens, how about the onus gets put on the front office to make this situation better. If we in the ecf or finals next season, we don't have to worry about anyone going anywhere

I guess the hope is that he regains that next season, from day 1

Problem is, he has allowed 'leader' Jimmy to emerge and take the ball out of his hands

It's just a weird dynamic now and I don't think he cares to be apart of it much longer

This whole insistence on Jimmy becoming a primary ball handler had to fukk with him

I don't think anyone would have a problem with Rose coming out and saying 'I need the ball in my hands to be the PG this team needs.'

It's exactly what I'm wishing he would say. Whether it was intentional or not, Jimmy stepped on dudes toes heavy

He just seemed to check out, keep building on a personal level and let Jimmy, for lack of better word, embarrass himself with this leader/PG shyt

Derricks best stretch was with Jimmy out, when Jimmy came back he took a step back

These guys need to figure it out man

I think this year was about getting over a mental hurdle. He should be an all-star or better next year.

:heh: could you imagine the media backlash if rose came out and said those kind of comments now?!

I'm the best player in the league? I'll die on the court? Why can't I be MVP? I would love to see the reactions to that one lol

As I stated before, it was a lose lose in the jimmy situation. He buys into the "jimmy is the guy" thing and falls back, he gets accused of being disengaged and uninterested in the team, if he continued to try and take over, he gets accused of being selfish and not wanting to step to the side to allow the presumed "best bulls player" shine. He took the humble route, you all saying he checked out, proving it was no win in it.

What I would like is a offense implemented that teaches rose and jimmy how to play off each other and it's not isolated to 1 guy having to score at a time in a sense but players always in good position with great ball movement so that everyone gets theirs. Issue with our offense is that ball movement without the ball absolutely sucked under hoiberg. That needs to get fixed.
