You're working there as a loader. Sounds like the Twilight Shift. Sure, that sucks. However, there isn't a better delivery service oriented job that pays better if you put the time in to bid on a full time delivery driver position (be it RPCD or 22.4) My closest friend works there. He threw packages for 9 months after graduation in high school. He bid on a driver role & due to others with more seniority not wanting it, he got the spot. It's not for the feint of heart but after 4 years, you make full rate, which now is around 41$ an hour as a RPCD and 33$ an hour as a 22.4. You'll start at 21$ an hour or so and progress until you make essentially a 12$+ jump in year four. He cleared six figures last year in Birmingham AL w/ overtime.

They seldom hire "off the street," due to the union rule of 6-to-1, meaning that tenured employees get first dibs on delivery driver positions. They are unionized and have some of the best benefits in the country. A pension. If you have no desire to ever deliver, then yeah, it may not worth it. But it's absolutely the better longterm deal than any other alternative.

I thought about doing the same thing but I would rather just find my career job rather than overwork myself for ups

Why you doing UPS in 2022? Log on to DoorDash I used to make $25 an hour in college, no boss. And that’s without me even trying. How y’all working these hard ass jobs in the gig economy? Unless you ain’t got a car then I understand.
These gas prices today hard for door dash?

when I had my own business, I started working at UPS on the side hoping to acquire benefits (it would take a few months)…I quit 4 days after I realized if anything working at UPS would be the reason I’d fukking end up in the hospital lmao

I worked at UPS for about a week. First off they lied about the days you'd have to work. The posting said Mon-Fri yet on orientation they said most of you will be Mon-Fri but some will be Tues-Sat, and guess who got the latter schedule :troll:. Then on top of that, like OP said, no training you're just thrown out there. I quit because the managers' egos were out-of-this-world, so I said fukk it one day. I just clocked out and never went back.

:troll:
