Not that surprising tbh…Brook was always a solid starter who put up good number… He always had the skill and touch on top of having a high bball iq to be the player he is now…It was a matter of being in the right situation…
All the way back in 2008-2010, you had him becoming a DPOY candidate and one of the better 3-pt shooting big men, well over a decade later?

YES.

Lopez was always an underrated defender.

Nets fans knew what he could he was being held back by a badly constructed teams and trash coaches. In fact we used to joke that he took too many jumpers even though he hit them at a good pace and like other posters said Kenny Atkinson was the only coach who really used him correctly. Even NBA scouts said before he got drafted that he had 3 point shooting range in his skillset.

Don't get me wrong he deserves his flowers but he always had that dawg in him. Im just mad as a Nets fan we couldn't give him the team he deserved for enough years.

This, coupled with playing with Giannis which has enabled him hide his other flaws.

Giannis doesn’t get enough credit for how he makes flawed players look better than they’re. And all these players are always out of the league after leaving Bucks by 2yrs max. Bledsoe, DiVicenzo (should be out of the league in 2yrs), Hill & Matthews were unplayable when they left Bucks, etc.
With all honesty, the Bucks defense was trash last season without Lopez in the lineup so I’d argue he’d just as important defensively to that team as Giannis. It’s why they have to bring him back next season as Portis isn’t it defensively as their only other big.

True. His elite rim protection was missed last season.

I was alluding to his rebounding & inability to guard pick n roll (you saw how AD was feasting on him yesterday).

Also, on the Bucks, he doesn’t need to carry any offensive load or get involved in pick n roll & that keeps him fresh all the time.

I’d say he plays his role well on the Buicks & deserves an extension.

So Greek dont have the steph curry "gravity" to make others better
Brook actually makes Giannis better, by stretching the floor (taking the big out of the paint, allowing more room Giannis to drive) and is one of the best defensive anchors in the league (allowing Giannis to conserve energy on defense).

Brook Lopez is such a good player

The transformation from how he played in BK to how he plays now is amazing.

It gives me hope and it also solidifies my viewpoints on players not improving

Players that come in the league one way and stay that way for their entire careers like Tyson Chandler, Russell Westbrook and Ben Simmons truly make me sick. At least Tyson Chandler had high character but he never improved at all

Those guys just never wanted to improve because they had no incentive to and were rewarded for their subpar play for years

I love Brooke Lopez
