The SEGA Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles released, while we got the console in North America with the iconic release day of September 9th, 1999; over in Japan they got the Dreamcast almost a year earlier on November 27, 1998! While it isn’t the 27th quite yet in North America, it is in Japan where the anniversary takes place. This anniversary got me thinking about what I would consider my favorite Dreamcast Japanese only release and I think I narrowed it down…

My favorite Dreamcast import is Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream, a fun little 2.5D platformer developed by Chime and published by SEGA only in Japan. The game was notable for trying to cultivate a ‘feminine sensibility’ by hiring a staff of mostly females which really gives the game a very unique feel to it. One of the bese aspects of the game is also the soundtrack which was composed by Yoko Kanno which featured a ton of great tracks.

SEGA Dreamcast turns 20 years old in Japan, what are your favorite Japanese Dreamcast games?

The reproduction created cases came thru the mail and I must say it looks beautiful.

The authentic replacement disc look much more presentable now

For comparison sake

Even though I'm spending money to do what I've been doing but better, its worth it. You can only do so much with a printer and regular paper....you got to get it done right with the right ink and proper paper. A comparison of the new repro cases on the left vs my own amatuer job with a regular printer on the right.

My version is respectable, but its just no comparison when you get that authentic crisp color palette you get from a professional print job.

Only the yellow one, all the other colors can be gotten from 20-40 dollars but the yellow version was released in limited supply so its value has skyrocketed.

This is actually a great deal that I caught, the normal price on ebay is about 100.
Not feeling the fruity colors but this was official DC release?

My first thoughts was "that's really cool" but bruh, with life being short and all the things that are happening in this world, I don't feel like cool stuff like this has a place. At least for me, I wanna impact the world and I can't do it how I envision if I'm putting energy into making my retro game disc booklets more "HD" so to speak. Not knocking what you do...
