This film looks to be taking all the sophomoric complexity of "DURR WHAT IF SHPERMAN WAS A BAD GUY" and someone managing to dull it down even further than its ever been down before.

Wholesale ripping off Man of Steel is next level disrespect that Im surprised a studio would try to punk WB like that. Better hope they dont buss back

More like this is what MOS was actually pointing towards without realizing it cause Snyder/Goyer lost track of his characterization and consequences.

sweet...reminds me somewhat of the graphic novel ‘a god somewhere’...the protagonist is much older in the story tho

Just read this online from this post. Would make a good movie if they go all in like the book does with the violence to really drive the point home of how the protagonist doesn't care about mankind.

why did he beat up his brother and rape his wife?

this was an ultimate case of absolute power corrupting absolutely...despite him eventually viewing ppl/mankind as being insignificant...from the flashbacks you can see there was always a hint of jealousy regarding his brother (very human quality for someone who practically considered himself a god)

his best friend was also jealous of the brother too...it was weird but it was like they both felt they met her before him and she should’ve been w/ one of them instead of him...in any event tho him becoming so powerful (literally overnight) drove him mad to a large degree and those feelings of jealousy were severely augmented

just my two cents...I know he looked down on humans as insects and felt he was free to do w/e absolutely free of consequence but that attack on his brother/wife was clearly personal and seemed full of resentment...I think after that is when he truly realized he had no regard for humanity

those flashbacks are important tho...even when they are older you see them drifting apart and you can see he felt “some way” about not seeing his brother when the wife and his best friend showed up @ the hospital...he took it the wrong way not realizing they split up to look for him...and then they were kind of avoiding each other after he got the powers...it’s almost like an extremely fukked up case of sibling rivalry

First time I saw the trailer when I was in the theater the other day. Outside of them shamelessly ripping MoS' asthetics, this kind of story really has been told numerous times in comics books already. Besides DC's own Ultraman and Injustice (or even Bizarro), you got Irredeemable and Red Son too.

Even so it's hilarious though to see people whining about this ripping off MoS when these same dudes probably all loved Chronicle which was a major rip-off of Akira.
