I guess between Vince fukking Bret over on the way out of WWE then the fact that Bischoff didn't utilize Bret properly in WCW, yeah, I'd say he was pretty sad and bitter. Thing is, Bret made peace with Cokeboy and HBK, whereas I think Bret was speaking some truth about Bischoff; the dude had Ted Turner's pocketbook and a one trick pony in the nWo to make him seem like a genius.

how did bischoff not utilize bret properly in wcw? this is one of the worst myths in wrestling.

bret fans & wwf fans need to come to grips with the fact that bret hart(and hbk/taker as well) was a big fish in a small pond when he ruled the wwf. in wcw, he was no longer the man, as there were a grip of wrestlers who were bigger & more popular than him that were over there. and his workrate didnt look so legendary anymore either when you put him in the same promotion as guys who were consistently churning out better matches. also, wcw fans never got behind dude like that neither. i know people like to pretend that the wwf was "the major leagues", but at some point you have to start looking at things objectively.

Bret never really seemed motivated to me in WCW. Even when he first got there he looked like he didn't want to be there. He likes to blame WCW for everything that went wrong, but like you said, he wasn't exactly putting on great matches on a weekly basis himself either.

exactly.

the fans' reaction to bret being there was always lukewarm as well, even when he debuted.

when big fish leave their small ponds and get devoured in the ocean.

I appreciate that, but the fact of the matter is that he made that decision largely because he knew he would be a focal point in the WWE, and in WCW he would be just another name. Bret valued his ego and the prestige that came along with being a champion above money. He just wasnt drawing as a WWE star, and with the WWE looking to move in a different direction (and knowing bret would bytch about its adult nature), they had to make a business decision to save the company. Not that it was all Bret's fault, but the WWE was losing millions every year revolving the company around him.

:blessed:
