Eric Bischoff appeared on Inside the Ropes Thursday night and discussed Bret Hart's criticism of him and more. Check out the highlights:

On Bret's WCW run: "I had spoken to and met Bret several times before he made the jump. I was obviously excited to have him but clearly Bret Hart was a very broken....and in my opinion still is, from the interviews I hear him do, a very sad, broken and bitter person. That was pretty evident when he first came over. He was a shadow or a shell of his former self. Wherever Bret was, the high point of his character, what I got was a kind of broken, sad shell of that and quite honestly I don't think he's ever come out of it."

On Bret's saying Bischoff "knows nothing about wrestling": "It's not unusual for guys like Bret Hart, from that era....the only way they know how to get over is to get over at the expense of someone else. Bret Hart's trying very hard to stay relevant. Unfortunately, he's no longer relevant. He was a big star, he had a big name at one point, he was an important character in the history of the business but he's not any longer and I'm sure that's hard on him. I know myself how it feels to realise that that your biggest and best days as a performer are behind you. I'm very comfortable with that, I've embraced it but it's hard for a lot of guys who've never been anything other than performers. They have a hard time with that. It's not easy getting older in the wrestling business, believe me, when you're surrounded by younger and younger people who in many ways aren't as over or as skilled or as popular as you may have been or still are now. But this business is a business that's served by youth and change. And for someone like Bret, that manifests itself in his personality, lashing out at others. It's funny, when he came to me he hated Vince McMahon, he hated everyone in the WWE from the office to half the roster. He didn't have a good thing to say about any of the McMahons. Then when he got the opportunity to go back and work for them, he had to shift that. Then his hatred was for someone else like Bill Goldberg for giving him a concussion and now it's for me and for Hulk, there's no rhyme or reason for it and as far as his opinion of my value and what I've achieved in the wrestling business, I'll let my body of work and success speak for itself."

Of course Bret was broken by the time he got to WCW the man he trusted more than anyone else, who he saw as a father figure just stabbed him in the back and infront of the world. That isnt something you can get over in a heartbeat. Nor did Bret really want to be at WCW in the first place.

And Bret ended up havin a stroke resultin from the concussion given to him by Goldberg. He didnt just end his career nearly left him as a mong stuck in a wheelchair. Its like Austin not havin much time for Owen after breakin his neck. Life/career threatenin injuries change people, even more so when they leave people half of what they were before.

Is Bret bitter yeah most likely but then again it might just be a Hart family trait. But his bitterness is nothing compared to Dynamite Kids.

:russ: bit of a c*nt with the Ive realised that my best days as a performer are over he doesnt. :comeon: Eric you got outside business interests with the Wonder Years Actor.

He has good points.

Bret is a pretty sad, bitter figure. You can tell how he still conducts himself, dude should be a main part of the WWE in some fashion but he seems to hold himself back.

That Owen shyt fukked him up for life though

honestly, man... I don't care how over I was. I don't think I could wrestle another night after ending one of the GOATs careers.

I guess between Vince fukking Bret over on the way out of WWE then the fact that Bischoff didn't utilize Bret properly in WCW, yeah, I'd say he was pretty sad and bitter. Thing is, Bret made peace with Cokeboy and HBK, whereas I think Bret was speaking some truth about Bischoff; the dude had Ted Turner's pocketbook and a one trick pony in the nWo to make him seem like a genius.

what do ya'll mean Vince fcked bret over? Vince asked Bret to do his job, and it was a reasonable request....drop the title to a major star at SS '97. I know Bret has used the out that he had "creative control", but that comes with a caveat. The contract read that Bret had "reasonable" creative control, which Ive interpreted as Vince not having the capacity to humiliate Bret, or make Bret do anything that would be in clear breach of his moral character. Sure, I get that he didnt like HBK, and the match was in Canada (the match was in Montreal...so it was his home country not hometown. Kinda like HBK saying he wouldnt do a job in the United States), but reasonable creative control doesnt mean Bret owns the company and gets to call all the shots.

Bret tried to put the screws to Vince because he really didnt want to leave, and out of spite over his feud with HBK. Lets not try to paint Bret as the innocent party here. For as much of an ahole as HBK was, Shawn was roughly a decade younger than Bret. Bret, oddly enough, lacks a great deal of maturity and thats been proven throughout his career.

With all that said, fck Eric Bischoff. Dude is such a dyckhead, and never takes the high road. Ever.

All Bischoff has to say in reference to Bret's WCW run is "he wasn't as good as he used to be", as if Bret allegedly being a shell of his former self somehow had something to do with the shytty way he was booked :shaq2:

And he's trying to call Bret out for working with Vince again, when he himself worked for Vince after spending years competing with him and spoiling his shows :shaq2:

But yeah, let's just call Bret bitter because he said some negative things about a few people. Why can't he be like every other former wrestler and not criticize anyone during interviews? Oh, wait a minute....they ALL do that......but Bret's the only one who's "just bitter" because of it :shaq2:
