Public Enemies was so flat to me. Its in my blu ray collection because I like the history behind it, but its more style over substance. The Warren Oates' Dillinger movie is 10 times better than Public Enemies in telling Dillinger's tale.Public Enemies has its moments but in no way would I call it a great flick. Collateral is incredible though. Maybe he's not attached to the material like he used to be and not really telling stories he's attracted to?
Yup agree word for word. Style over substance. It's a gorgeous movie to look at and it's made beautifully but it seems like no one cared about the characters because even the performances are good. It's an example of "hey, here's the best technical way to make a movie"Public Enemies was so flat to me. Collateral is so overrated and Heat is his only great movie imo. One hit wonder director in my book. Never seen Last of the... and never plan to.
I didn't even know he directed that Blackhat trash.
Man I can't roll with you on that. Thief and Heat are his masterpieces and Manhunter is damn near a masterpiece, so that's his 3-peat imo. Collateral was a very good movie but not on the same level with those other 3 and last of the Mohicans was good, just not a memorable film outside of the homie Day-lewisCollateral is so overrated and Heat is his only great movie imo. Yea, I should. I just never really liked his style of directing after seeing Collateral, Miami Vice and Public Enemy. I didn't even like Heat at first until I watched it a few more times growing up. I think he's very overrated, but if those movies you mentioned are really great, I can see why he's such a cult favorite.Homie you need to check Thief. Manhunter too.
I fukkin hate the cameras he used in Public Enemy and Miami Vice
And Collateral shyt looked like it was shot by a high school student.I fukkin hate the cameras he used in Public Enemy and Miami Vice

He's been doing that since he started but the technology finally caught up with where he was going and what he was doing. I love it on the real
