Ultron is a random ass pick....but he catches wreck breh. He's a major Avengers villain.

There's very few characters on the level of Thanos though, in terms of sheer recognition when you see him....so virtually anybody would be after the tease at the end of "The Avengers".

This is a wild guess....but I have a feeling Thanos shows up at the end of "Avengers 2". The Comic-Con footage showed them all laying on the ground, looking dead, with Tony Stark looking like with Captain America's shield broken.

2 - Hyped? Thanos has only had small scenes in 2 of 10 movies. Let's not confuse the fans and internet crowd hype with anything coming from Marvel. If anything, the been tight lipped other than telling us he's gonna be the main villain of A3

Normally I would agree with both of these points, but given who Thanos is, people need to die. This is a dude that killed off half the universe at one point, including virtually every major Marvel super hero, solo or team.
A lot of people don't really know how Joss Whedon gets down, because they're "Buffy and Angel?" but dude was basically G.R.R. Martin before "Game Of Thrones" was well known. He would kill off characters left and right....major characters, fan favorites, all that. So unless Marvel specifically tells him I expect there to be deaths.
