Which one of you has smelled YSL Tuxedo?

* disgustingly looks at wall full of decants, pulls from the shelf, spritzes *

To my nose, it's a floral vanilla. Maybe I'm noticing a bit of the ambergris/patchouli - but that might be in my head. There's something sorta aquatic and smoky about it, 10 minutes into it. It's nice. Low key it reminds me of YSL Myslf/Givenchy Gentleman Society.

I think the YSL Name, the name of the frag, the price point, the florals, and the lack of projection make people think it's better than it is.

Cuba Knows hypes this one a lot. It's the only reason I copped it. This and him recommending Tobacco Flirting with Vanilla is

1) Why I started to understand how very subjective fragrance is, even more than food or music.
2) I don't trust influencers
3) I buy decants.
4) I tell everyone to never blind buy.

I got 03 haven't tested it out yet. I skipped 01 cause i seen reviews saying it was nasty.

01 - is Pear, Vanilla, and Tobacco. I'm wondering how that works?

The closest Zara that has it is an hour away, 2 hours round trip.

That puts it into cost of my time vs blind buying....

Thank you. That was helpful.

It's just one of those fragrances that I've seen youtubers talk about, but I never came across in any threads or forums or even out in public in stores.
Then I'm scrolling through Instagram and an ad for it came up and I thought to ask about it here.

I'm getting a little suspicious when I see a fragrance being hyped and it's either expensive, difficult to find, or both.

My spidey sense tingles when YT Frag Reviewer does a list of my all time top 10, and the fragrance came out in the last 6 months.

Really, Boss Bottled Elixir (2023) is in your top ten of ALL TIME?

smh

other danger signs
  • Anyone pushing Zaharoff anything.
  • A bunch of people talk about it at once
  • Middle Eastern Brand
  • Here's a discount code..
Expensive to me is par for the course. The only cologne most guys need is a good body wash. Cologne collecting is a luxury hobby, like cigars, whisky, watches, cars, fashion, art etc.

Difficult to Find/Discontinued - that's always a flex to me. You can't get this because it's only for the Basque Region of Spain Market.

FOH.

I remember watching this one niche snob talk about a fragrance that he could only get at this one specific church in Italy that he just happened to visit. No website, no e-commerce, just get you a plane ticket to Florence.

That joint might as well not exist.

This a Dior Homme Parfum clone.

I smelled both side by side and couldn't tell the difference.

I also got Velvet Iris that is a Dior Homme Intense clone but haven't tried it yet.

Scent of the Day
1. Vilhelm - To My Father - nice little whisky scent
2. Paco Rabanna - Invictus Victory - It's like a sweet floral, but also cacao. Only worn thanks to the random number generator. Decant goes on the sell list.
