NY did not put Jordan’s on the map single handedly. :mjlol:Everybody everywhere has always rocked Jordans. Them cac heavy metal musicians like Metallica and Anthrax used to religiously rock every single Jordan since the Jordan 1. Doogie Howser was even wearing Jordans and shyt. :hhh: Tony Danza, Jerry Seinfeld, little boy from Rossane etc. etc. Jordans were extremely mainstream until about the mid 90’s when cacs stopped wearing em.

I give NY credit for Timbs, Air Forces and even stuff like Avirex leathers and Coogi sweaters. But to give NY all the credit for Jordans is just dumb. Jordan never even played for a NY team. Jordan was born in Brooklyn and lived there for all of five seconds and NY nikkas try to claim his country bumpkin ass. Look at how he dress off court and tell me he ain’t from Snakebite, North Carolina. :mjlol:They rock J’s in the hood in every city since the crack era.

Wait, you really think rocking Jordan’s was some NYC culture? If any city claiming J’s as their culture it’s Chicago, and they can’t claim it either because J’s were the culture everywhere.

People wore Jordans, they wore Timbs, AF1s, fitted hats, etc every where....
But making it apart of the culture...
The stupid shyt like waiting in line for hours for Jordans .
Robbing people for Jordans and killing.
Wearing expensive clothes and all that type shyt.. was strictly a new York thing.

Down south and evey where else no one really cared that much about Jordans or any sneakers or anything as like a status symbol.
But that's how it was in NY.

He’s right and I’m old enough to remember it like yesterday. I’ve watched society follow NY culture for over 40 years. That’s just the way it used to happen. NY always got everything first, be it new music or new fashion…and they always set the tone for hood trends nationwide. Hell, worldwide when you think about it. This all changed starting like 98-99ish when the South began to finally get its wings but regarding Jordans and other hood culture staples, yes, NY was always the trendsetters, the rest of the US just followed. There really is no disputing that basic truth, especially those who lived through it.

Yes, NY is the culture trendsetter capital of the country. But for J’s, that shyt was everywhere. Everybody went crazy for J’s when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s.

No because they look similar to Air Force ones and SB dunks and not that unique.

And during the 90s and 80s other Jordan's were worn more sold more and higher notability.

People were getting shot for the other Jordan styles not these
Dunks came out after the jordan 1. they are the original bootleg j's. Nike probably didn't know how big MJ was gonna be and tried to treat them like some custom colorways after the fact, and started making the dunks.

Bro... I'm not the stereotypical NYer...
I was bless with the opportunity to see different places when I was young and got to see alot of shyt I would have never seen growing up in NY.

But I also got to see how "TRENDS", Slang, fashion and everything was different outside of NY...

Again, back in the 90s maybe even Early 2000s you could go anywhere and see some people with Jordans on.

But NYers made it like a super part of the culture, like how it is now everywhere...

Now you got a guy in here talking about NYers didn't make AF1s a big thing, just like we made everything a staple in hip hop culture.
They are called "Uptown" for a reason.

I'm not saying this shyt to disrespect any other place.
NY dominated the culture back in the day.... So most things everybody does started because we were in charge of the culture.
And it took a long time for other places to catch on, because there was no internet yet.

Now you don't see big differences in the culture, everything is blended. East coast, west coast, Midwest, south... Everything is like almost one style now and everybody is doing and saying the same shyt at the same time...
.it wasn't like that back in the day.

But I wouldn't expect people from outside of NY to know, because how would you know

Where are you from bro ..?

And that last line about people going crazy for Jordans in the 80's isn't true

Come to think about it, :jbhmm:you can’t give all the credit to NY for Air Force 1’s because Baltimore played a major role in making sure the Air Force 1 was ever even retro’d in the first place. Back in 1985, Downtown Locker Room in Baltimore petitioned for Nike to bring back the Air Force 1 and DTLR started the flavor of the month Air Force 1 campaign that year. Also, in DC they were rocking the Super Timbs religiously in the late 80’s way before NY nikkas were rapping about them in every song. I’m from Cali and even I know that. What else? NY invented water too?:wtf: nikkas all too happy to worship the white man’s products he designed and owns all ownership rights to. :snoop:
It was Charlie Rudos. Not DTLR. This post is spot on tho
