because you can literally go anywhere after the first 3 hour tutorial missions. Thats what an Open world game is supposed to be, you want to go fight the last boss? Go ahead and get done up. You want to go look for a high powered enemy off beyond some mountain top in the distance? get to climbing.

Theres very little restrictions in the game and not having levels makes it even less restrictive. if you're skillful you can do whatever you wanna do. An enemy won't be unbeatable because its level 20 and you're level 1. Thats why this game has the most popular speedruns because you can run straight to the last boss without glitches.
you could do this in Chrono Trigger, pull up on Lavos just like dat

To be honest. Compared to other Zelda games botw is kinda shallow.

In the past, your traversal and progress was locked behind you learning new moves and gaining new items. In BOTW the entire games progress is based on upgrading your stamina meter.

I enjoyed the game, but past Zelda games were better :manny:
facts

ive beaten every mainline zelda leading up to BOTW

got bored and put BOTW down on Wii U adn then same on switch a year later.

open world and 'choice' dont make every game better and this game suffered for it IMO

im being hyperbolic but when companies talk up their "open worlds" and freedom of play, it always comes with so many qualifiers. Zelda removes a lot of it. Im not saying everyone has to like that level of freedom but i also see people ask what "new" stuff did Zelda do outside of stamina and this is it. It gives you full freedom to tackle the game in the order you want and experience teh story the way you want.

And this the way the wanted people to play the NES game back in the day. BOW feels like an evolution of that.

Can any of the brehs tell me what was so groundbreaking about this game? I tried it briefly but I never got the hype, it just seemed like every other open world game.

Open-world is slowly become synmomous with a whole lot of nothing. the games hey look at all the cool stuff you can do, but narrative lacks direction. Which is why people focus onall the cool stuff I can do but not on actual meat of the game.

Physics and the stuff you can do.

the objective of the game is simply to beat Ganon and take back Hyrule. however you choose to do so is up to you. there's no specific narrative to follow unless you go out there and discover it yourself. But most of it leads back to the fact that calamity ganon took over hyrule.

People always wanna fight me over OoT, cause I really don’t think it is. I was there for it, the only console I had was N64. I remember the last 8 month or so delay like it was yesterday.

Once i reached the water temple my enthusiasm for that game hit rock bottom. I think i put it down for like 3 months.

The thing is though, is that there will always been 2 (maybe 3) different zelda fans. The old guard who wants their zeldas to remain dungeon crawlers where you get a new weapon every dungeon and use it to unlock new paths.

And now there’s the BoTW zelda fans that are cool with zelda going in a completely new direction and adopting more western game design.

The third is people who don’t give a shyt about zelda if it’s not top down adventure
fukk azz water temple

I still low key think R* “borrowed” some shyt from them for RDR2 but nikkas don’t be feeling me when I bring that up
I read they borrowed too but i don’t remember which elements. BotW also borrowed from shadow of the colossus and skyrim.

Well to be fair...

you can run into a lynel or guardian in an open field, peaceful area and still get done up.

i died several times running away from shyt in the very beginning
