For some reason half of my comment did not post. I went on to clarify that the construction, restaurant and IT industries among others have all favored ESL laborers here in the West Coast for going on 2 decades.

The UC college system has 4,000+ undocumented students enrolled to date in the same state that outlawed affirmative action 20 years ago which has resulted in blacks being 2-3% of the entire student body across the UC system despite being 6-7% of the state population. There's more undocumented students than there are black students total at the top 5 UC campuses

From personal experience they are favored because they are far less likely to have a basic knowledge of CA labor laws and basic worker rights. Even if they do they are less likely to exercise them due to the language barrier and their own complacency with keeping a steady income stream no matter how shytty the work conditions are.

Calling them "Illegal immigrants" is a way of making someone illegal, which casts them in a discriminatory light. They're really refugees from an inhospitable sociopolitical environment we have to take the majority of responsibility for.

DACA isn't the law, it's an executive order for prosecutorial discretion. The law says, if you're hear illegally you go home. DACA says, we're not going to deport you for your parent's crime (even though if you're in college you probably used some kind of fake identity to get yourself registered).

Take a critical look at the American justice system and tell me it's fair and balanced, and not discriminatory toward non-whites. That's all I'm saying. You asked "Why should someone be exempt from the law?" And I answered, because I don't think that American laws are just. And if laws are unjust, then are they really laws?

Then I add the fact that America in the late 20th century overthrew several countries in Central and South America, the effects of which created countries which were/are rampant with crime, no thanks to our foreign policies.
