That’s 4 and 6 years down the line . The nets currently have no incentive to be a bad team from a basketball or business perspective If they can help it . Westbrook would be a circus ,adding Poetl Would’ve been a headache ..all for some picks a half decade away? I get why they passed.

if KD wants out they can still demand their ransom ...and if he does it at the end of the year thats their best case scenario

The Mavs pick is 6 years down the road as well. That extra pick from the Lakers is worth more than wherever Spencer Dinwiddie is taking you this year.

When they trade KD their best bet would have been more picks to align with that 2027-2029 time frame. That way you can set your future quickly.

The last thing any NBA team wants to be is “competitive” with absolutely no chance to actually win.

In the days after Irving and the Nets reached an impasse in contract extension negotiations last June, the Lakers requested and received permission from Brooklyn to speak to Irving’s representatives, according to league sources. Those around Irving believed that this could be the first step toward a potential trade scenario between the two teams. The Lakers and Vice President of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka were given the OK to talk to Irving’s agent, Shetellia Riley Irving; however, Riley Irving did not hear from any member of the Lakers front office, sources said

Lakers offered two firsts with a high chance LeBron won’t be there when it’s time to cash them in. That’s worth more than the 1 Mavs pick which may still have Luka in the picture.

Nets won’t be competitive without KD and he about to request out as well.
The picks weren't important
The Nets wanted at least a starting PG
Westbrook clearly isn't anymore cause he can't even break a starting rotation featuring Patrick Beverley & Dennis Shroeder.
KD can ask out again, it's obvious the Nets ain't interested in moving him and at the end of the day he's not the type to intentionally sit out or quit on a team

What does that have to do with what I said? KD and Kyrie went to Brooklyn together to play together and now since Kyrie is gone, there's no guarantee that KD will still want to stick around. Besides, I have been one of the few posters on this site that has insisted for years that KD should have stayed in GS and saved himself the hassle of playing with Kyrie.

KD was a whole dumb ass for leaving GS. They gave that man his money and he won 2 titles. why the fukk would you leave the insulation of having Steph/Klay/Dray around you? and they were on the brink of a 3 peat. you gotta know GS winning last year bothered KD

And KD ain't Kawhi
Could've chose to sit on his trade demand from this off-season but really he just wants to ball so he rescinded and was playing like an MVP before he got hurt
If KD ask out this time I bet he gonna act up. They still had Kyrie to start the year but now they have no one

Brooklyn expecting the Suns to offer CP3, Crowder, and 3 first round picks for a few months of Kyrie:why:

And why are these teams offers getting leaked so fast? Nets been leaking like crazy since the KD trade request. I wouldn't even negotiate with Sean Marks the way he leaks to Chams, Haynes, and Woj.

It wasn't his team. Even draymond said that they didn't need him. He wanted to be a bus driver & I can't fault him for that. If he had gotten behind the three point line, everything in Brooklyn could have gone differently.
