Not going to neg you but tbh, Kobe didn't really play a stupid game per se. He wasn't the pilot. There is speculation he pressured the pilot to take a shortcut but as a pilot, even if your passenger is a famous person, its your responsibility to only do things that are safe. Even if the passenger is a famous person with a lot of money, because if you guys crash and die, you are all equally dead. Your money and status mean nothing at that point. You're leaving the earth the same way as the next dude.

So, not really the same thing imo because it wasn't Kobe's responsibility as it relates to where the helicopter went and to follow safe procedures. Thats on the pilot.

Preserve your life its the only thing you have, dont risk it unnecessarily. There should be serious sanctions and safety standards on this type of submarines and deep water explorations

There are safety standards, but I think they might be hard to enforce since much of the ocean is located in international waters.

I remember living in the gulf coast of FL. I went on one of those casino boats. We had to take a ferry to the casino boat, which was in International Waters because gambling was legal there. We couldn't just go on the casino boat from a dock on shore and sail out there with all the gambling infrastructure on it (slot machines, etc).

I'm no sailor at all, or know a lot about maritime law. I've never even been on a cruise before, so I really don't know jack about this stuff. But from the limited experiences I had with it, it seems like it can be tricky to enforce this stuff and there are loop holes.

For instance, I read somewhere that the CEO of OceanGate kept the vessel off the shore of Canada or something like that to circumvent restrictions.
