last time I checked , Clay Bennett took the Sonics history with him, including their 1979 championship trophy
I think the city or league or something owns the name sonic. I'd have to research.

As if taking the team wasn't bad enough, Oklahoma City has taken our history as well, using the parts that are convenient and stuffing the rest in a closet. From merchandise to the media guide, the Thunder has usurped the best of what was the Seattle SuperSonics.
"They have hats that say 1967 in Oklahoma blue, the media guide has Gary Payton, Sean Kemp, all our former teams," complains longtime Sonics fan Jason Reid, director of the award-winning documentary "Sonics Gate" detailing the sale of the team.
When tyc00n Clay Bennett bought the team and took it to Oklahoma, he got all the Sonics stuff - including the 1979 championship trophy and the rights to share the team's history with Seattle. In a deal with former mayor Greg Nickels, Seattle got to keep the Sonics name and the colors for a future franchise.
The NBA Championship Trophy from 1979 is in Seattle. Bennett doesn't have that... for nowOKC just use whatever Sonic History they like it seems...
Sonics fans vow to reclaim history from Oklahoma City - Seattle News - MyNorthwest.com
A friend of mines from Sac told me they could get an arena done if they were to build on the site where Arco/Power Balance stands now. They railyards site is the problem. Of course everyone wants a new arena downtown but its not always easy, first you have to clear the site out, develop it, and so forth.George is an idiot. The other ones (Joe and Gavin) are more like cheerleaders than actual owners.
If we had different owners, I guarantee a new arena in Downtown Sac would be in the middle of construction. Seeing how much land this city has with the railyards to get this done has me why this hasn't happened yet. They're even developing the area around it right now like its still in the works
I wouldnt be surprised it the Kings or the Hornets move there
Tom Benson is NOT moving the Hornets to Seattle.
