A friend of mines from Sac told me they could get an arena done if they were to build on the site where Arco/Power Balance stands now. They railyards site is the problem. Of course everyone wants a new arena downtown but its not always easy, first you have to clear the site out, develop it, and so forth.

Mayor KJ wants NO part of renovating Arco Arena/Power Balance Pavilion because it doesn't make any sense after all of the energy him and the city invested in a downtown arena. Especially with the same Maloofs giving the media a tour of how badly outdated the building is back in 2006. Plus, nothing good happens with a refurbished arena. Seattle renovated their Arena TWICE before the sonics moved to OKC. Also the Warriors, who renovated their Arena back in the late 90s, are moving to a waterfront arena in SF before the end of this decade once their lease for the Oracle expires which I believe is 2017. Its a short time fix, but it still doesn't solve the problem.

Ask your friend how clear the railroads site is now. This isn't four years ago. All of the redtape from the previous land owners is resolved and its checked environment-safe. Parking was the only snag and even that was resolved. The Magoofs just balked despite Stern & the NBA willing to spot them on anything else.

I wasn't talking about a refurbished Arco, I was saying a brand new arena on the Arco site.. like right next door or some shyt. That would be ten times easier than the railroad site because parking, roads, freeway access, environmental reports, etc. are already in place and were done 20 years ago. You simply just have to build a new building. with the downtown site or with any new area you have to do the environmental report(a report on how traffic will effect the area, resources needed, etc), build parking structures, new roads, fight the people that oppose the new building, etc. Sometimes that shyt takes 2-3 years to get worked out before one shovel hits the ground. What's the supposedly completion date of the railyard arena if it were to be built.. 2014-15? Its hard to get shyt built in California, especially if the bill is going to be footed with taxpayers money. Every team in Cali except for the SF Giants, Lakers and Clippers needs a new building

The same shyt is going on here in LA with the two proposed NFL stadium sites. The City of Industry site had to pay like $200,000 for a environmental report then they had to fight the city/residents of Diamond Bar who opposed the stadium for fear of nightmare traffic and their police force didn't want to have to pay their police department to work the games on Sunday, etc etc etc. The downtown site is basically squeezing a 70,000 seat stadium in a tight space next to Staples Center. There's parking and traffic issues they have to explain, etc.

Its crazy, there's a lot of hands they have to grease

Buzz City, NC :blessed:
I think the choices come down to these four teams:

No particular order.

Sacramento Kings (This city will never recover from the Housing collapse and no good jobs can be had out there)
Minnesota Timberwolves
Charlotte Bobcats
Memphis Grizzlies (Larry Ellison will not be denied his chance to own a NBA Franchise and Seattle is 1.5 hour flight from the Bay Area)

MJ Won't move the team out of NC

There's a building moratorium in the Natomas area where the arena is because the levees are 2nd worse only to New Orleans. They said there's 30 yrs of protection. I think it's supposed to be 100 or 200 yrs. They want that downtown spot because both West Sac & Downtown Sac have huge plans for the riverfront

I definitely see why they want it downtown. A arena will bring in hotels, restaurants, bars, condos, lofts, etc. Staples Center in LA completely changed downtown LA.. was a wasteland now its becoming a great destination to work, play and live. Sac should've started the ball rolling ten years ago now it looks like it might be too late. I grew up in Fresno and we never had to worry about Fresno State packing up and moving crazy as that may sound. The Kings are the only pro team in the central valley, Sac supposed to make sure they don't go anywhere. I know the Maloofs are nothing but fukk ups but still it should've never came down to this 'final hour' type shyt

^^^ Man the city been trying for the whole 2000s. The Maloofs have sabotaged a few efforts. As much as I'd like to see a downtown arena, I have a feeling that if it's publicly funded, it will eventually help bankrupt the city. Good luck 206!

The Hornets move to Seattle would of made so much sense!

Ok, but WHERE? This isn't the same Natomas region in 1988 when the arena was built there. The area has caught up and everything around it is all developed. The only way to do it is to demolish Arco, build the new arena on the site while the Kings play a season at the 10,000 seat Stockton Arena 50 miles away while it gets built :scusthov:

I saw the 2005 WWE Royal Rumble at the Save Mart Center. Nice arena. Of course its not NBA ready according to Stern but I was driving down 41 from a party in Clovis last month and it looked so pretty at night off the freeway :to:

I've been to Been to The Save Mart Center once.. very nice 16,000 seat arena. Back in the day Selland Arena was the shyt. I'm supposed to hit a couple of basketball games this up coming season, they supposed to have a nice team this year. They should have a couple of pre season NBA games there though
