as much as I hate Goodell he was completely right. If you’re not putting anyone in danger why move your draft back? Nobody can argue that not moving the draft was a great move

The difference is that NBA has the draft lottery. So until decisions have been made about if they can even finish the season there's no way you could even think of having the draft lottery which is why they pushed it back. And depending on where they are drafting that drastically changes teams draft strategies so it make sense to go ahead and put it on hold.

The issue with the NBA draft is that they can't figure out what the draft order will be because the remainder of the season technically hasn't been canceled. That, and there hasn't been any combines, any interviews, nothing. There are gonna be hundreds of players in a draft where they can't even somewhat evaluate what's there in person. The NFL had the advantage of finishing their season AND having the combine. Also, the NBA was gonna have the draft in Brooklyn and NYC isn't holding any events out here, fans or no fans.

It's like when someone gets HIV in porn. They shut everything down for 30 days until they figure out who was patient zero and then test everyone all over again. Only with COVID, it's easy as fukk to catch it and there's way more people to test.

I think if they can't continue then they'd have to use the standings as is. That's another issue. If everyone played the same amount of games then they'd probably consider already having a cutoff and then canceling the rest of the games, but some teams played more than others (I still think they'd just use winning % for lotto odds)
