The way Rodgers is talking, he is ALL IN on trying to get back ASAP. If you listen to it, I think he probably has an internal goal of trying to come back this year

I don't think that will happen, but the way he's talking and alluding to things he's def making hints about "wanting to shock people".. when pushed he said he didn't want to do a disservice to the rehab process, but asked if he could come back at the end of the year he said "in the words of KG, anything is possible"

Achilles surgery is a 4-6 month process at the least. Best case scenario he's available to play if by some miracle the Jets make it to the SB. If that's the case, they've stabilized the QB spot so why completely disrupt momentum for a guy coming off surgery who has played 4 snaps of NFL football in 18 months?

I think he's all in on trying to shift the convo about achilles timetable, the same way AP was able to with ACL injuries. 4-6 month time table, and see where he/Jets are at and it can be a real conversation

He went the Kobe route right away.. got surgery scheduled and done ASAP, already all in on taking as much information as possible from people who have gone through it, etc

This is good news to me cause I questioned if he was gonna hang it up.. sounds like he's all in on the recovery process and proving people wrong. Probably the most important aspect of a recovery process.

I never thought he was gonna retire. Too much guaranteed money involved for 2024 plus I doubt he wants his last moments on the football field being carted away with a catastrophic injury.

A curious question is.... what do the Jets do if Wilson actually plays well and the Jets are successful? Do they put him back on the bench for a 40 going on 41 year old Rodgers who hasn't played for a year coming off major injury/surgery? They're not gonna pay 40M to a backup

I def had that thought that he might retire. He gave away $35 million dollars at the beginning of the year lol, $$ isn't the end all for that man anymore.

I do wonder as well what they do if Wilson actually plays well, but my guess is they are an average middle of the pack team like last year with a great defense and he isn't able to be anything more than a backup.. It def appears that Rodgers got this type of surgery and procedure done in order to rehab much faster.

They'll cross that bridge if they ever get there

If he was still a Packer I think he would hang em up, or take the Alex Smith in Washington/Romo in Dak's rookie year approach of going through the rehab just for the accomplishment of making it back to the active roster as he serves as Love's backup (assuming Love had a good 2023 as the guy).

As a Jet I think he feels obligated to come back and get one real run with Sauce, G.Wilson, Hall, etc - If Smack somehow plays well enough to make that an issue then it's a best case scenario for them.
