You right, go ask tRumpHope u learn about those DEMONcrats.
I think the righteousness of the cause and the deep offense of the history surrounding it led people to overlook more tangible policy goals that were nuanced and actually feasible politically. They adopted hardline positions that only true believing radicals could accept (e.g. cash payments any nothing else to the tune of millions per person, for example) and decried anyone looking for more palliative or diminutive options that would allow this political anchor to move on.Legit dont understand how any logical thinking person ever expected reparations to actually be given out.

I think black contrarian disaffected liberals (ADOS) and right wing black activists like the Tariq/B1/FBA are using it as a stick to beat democrats over the head with while moving the goalposts of the rhetoric of the argument. If you notice, Tariq adopts republican framing on every topic that hurts democrats not because he likes republicans but because he wants to hurt the democrats for not sounding like Farrakhan on every issue by stamping black on everything. Its like they want black politicians to go through some cynical humiliation ritual where acknowledging black issues directly obviously faces political consequences just to reinforce the notion that the country is racist and to take us through another media cycle reinforcing how much the country is anti-black. It’s like, we know this already so lets try to get around that by sidestepping this degradation of political leverage that we barely have!
Theres going to come a point where a prominent democrat speaks out against reparations AND that democrat won’t suffer any consequences. Thats where you know reparations is DoA…and its gonna happen sooner than you think
Heres an example…did you ever think the opinion on trans people would flip as quickly as it did? And now it’s basically almost to the point where democrats are about to throw trans issues under the bus. Same with criminal justice reform initiatives.
You have to read the room. Reparations is dead politically, but the study of anti-black discrimination will continue to evolve and his historical implications will continue to an academic endeavor.
