The Elite QBs.. Brady, Brees, Peyton, Rivers, etc left...so that just elevated the group under them to 'elite'. The market is completely fukked up. We don't agree with a lot of these QB contracts. This will be yet another one. He automatically should make more than Lawrence. That's $55M right there to start.

People talking like NFL cap isn't bullshyt and constantly gamed. Eagles made Hurts the highest paid QB and they still gave AJ the biggest WR contract of all time and brought in Saquon. Packers made Love the highest paid QB and gave Jacobs the biggest RB contract in the league.
Aiyuk, Jennings and CMC are still under contract, and Pearsall is a first round pick that will be entering his sophomore season. Kittle and Trent Williams are aging out of usefulness and are under contract until they retire probably, and Deebo is broken down anyway. The Front Office needs to hit on draft picks to replace the old guys, not spend crazy in FA. The position group that needs the most help is OL, those FA contracts don't break the bank. On defense the front 7 is solid, maybe need one decent edge rusher opposite Bosa. The only way I see a big Purdy contract harming the composition of the team is inability to bring in a blue chip DB in FA.

Before he hurt his shoulder/before the o-line was decimated he was among the league leaders in every category this year without CMC and Aiyuk.
That's a super team to you? Deebo has been hobbled the whole year. He had Kittle and Jennings.

Even Stroud looks like he's regressed. If he has another season like this one next year he'll be right where Purdy is.
Tier 1 is Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, and Herbert. These are Generational QBs and should be paid whatever they ask for, automatic market setting contracts.
The next tier are Franchise QBs, so Purdy, Stroud, Burrow, Lawrence, Dak, Tua, Hurts, Goff, Love, and Stafford. These guys all have flaws but they're good enough to be the undisputed guy leading the franchise. When it's their time to get an extension, they get a top 5 contract.
Then you have guys like Cousins, Baker, Darnold, Carr and Geno. These are successful journeymen who you can trust to lead the season but not the franchise, so the FO will be actively looking somewhere else for the long-term franchise QB. They'll get a medium-term contract for around 15th in the league.
