LSU didn’t offer him a crazy amount 9.5 mill is the same as what Michigan St is about to pay Mel Tucker
That’s around market value for a marquee coach, but a significant pay raise over the 3 million a year Notre Dame was giving him.
I would have left too. Warmer weather, you don’t have to travel as much for recruiting, and 9.5 million goes a LONG way in the state of Louisiana unlike other places like California were the cost of living is absurd.
I think he’s a good coach that has won everywhere he’s been. He is a bit of a questionable cultural fit as it’s been said, but he can offset a lot of that with the coordinators, positions coaches, recruiters he hires. He was smart to retain Corey Raymond and Mickey Joseph.
It remains to be seen if he can win the big game, but he’ll stabilize the program and you won’t have all those off the field shenanigans you had with Orgeron.
Those idiots on Tigerdroppings expecting to be competing for nattys as soon as next year. They need to temper those expectations. I think it well take him 2 years to get his recruits in, get his coaching staff like he wants it, and to change the culture there. I’ll critique the Brian Kelly hire more in year 3 then I will in these first 2 years.
