He has a 100 day promise like Trump. There will be a lot of death and suffering. They already kill the poor like sport there as it is.

No they don’t kill the poor like its sport, and you glory hunters are reaching for some kind of Hitler Facists like its your job. It’s not that serious. Bolsonaro actually has an administration of Pro-nationalist ex-military men that want to do right by the country.

His security advisor was on GloboNews tonight talking real shyt while members at the roundtable continuously spewed false gossip at him. He was talking about the prison system which is something they said needed to be revamped but the journos weren’t having that and were reflecting

None of those words should instill confidence in the outcome. Military is about following orders and doing as you are told. You know who doesn't always follow orders? Civilians and criminals.

I don't think this dude is going full Hitler. Duerte in the Philippines is probably the closest which means that war on drugs is about to get ugly.

It’s absolutely insane how so many people from different races, backgrounds, socioeconomic status, etc are supporting this POS. The leftist fukked that country so bad
not just left parties, political corruption was very systematic and widespread in brazil. but because of the coup and globo so much of the public perceives it as being just the fault of PS and socialism.

Well, we'll see. Your optimism is that like Trump supporters back in early 2017. Just about that whole cabinet he started with is gone now.

I don't think Bolsonaro is a Hitler but I think he would try to be Getulio Vargas or Emilio Medici 2.0 if he could get away with it.

The country and its voters are just so fed up with the same old parties and politicians, be it PT or PSDB/PMDB, traditionally left or right. So the majority voted for Bolsonaro because he could be someone who could shake things up at the very least

I feel you there. It's like everyone has their hand in some mess unfortunately. Even Cardoso had to throw up his hands though he'll probably never support Jair.

Which it is. The last 3 leftist presidents were all hit or jailed with corruption charges

License to Kill? Sharpshooters to Join Brazilian Police Patrols to Take Down Criminals In the Favelas

Rio is going to be lit. As in it will be lit up. This policy of allowing sharpshooters patrol with police is going to lead a lot Afro Brazilians getting killed. This policy will lead to soft genocide. And God knows what the right wing with criminal militias will do in the favelas. The murder rate in Brazil will double.

What would you have them do? The situation is pretty dire in the flavelas, peoole getting robbed in broad daylight can't walk the streets.

If you are a good person you have nothing to worry about ..why all the alarm for bad guys potentially being in harms way ? Cuz some are black?
.whatever the left was doing was not working

Police in Brazil kill thousands per year much more than many other countries per capita. The military has been brought into cities like Rio multiple times. If just killing people, often extrajudicially, was going to solve Brazil's problems it'd have Switzerland level crime rates. But it doesn't.

Let's be honest, most of the people killed are going to be low level types like fogoteiros, street dealers, or innocents in the crossfire. The hardcore gangs and leadership can adapt and even thrive in this kind of environment. The Brazilian elite have never been interested in truly solving the favelas, just pacifying them.

Brazil (and I have lived there) needs to train and equip its police officers to do real police work--closing cases, having access to advanced forensics, setting up decent coverage, getting in good with the local favela population etc. It also needs to rid itself of its massive police corruption and connections to militias and even arms/drugs dealing. You can double the amount of criminals you kill next year but if murder cases solved still don't surpass a 10% rate, crime truly does pay...

for political reasons because the brazilian right wing controls the judiciary. its not like brazilian conservative politicians are not corrupt as well

May very well be, but you can understand why people we disenfranchised when their elected officials are corrupt and aren't changing the economic situation for them

Nothing will change, the crooked cops will be empowered by the military and be much worse now
