Trump-like political propaganda, but he actually has great ideas for the nation, including reducing public ministries that soak up all of the country’s funds.

How does it feel to be complicit in the extinction of humankind. That fukker you voted in will only make global warming worse by destroying one the best defences this planet has against co2 emissions.
Destroy the earth and vote in a banana republic dictatorship for short term economic gains, brehs...

Are you Brazilian? Did you vote for him?
Yes im brazilian, no I didn’t vote for him.

Brazil is systematically fukked. What kind of democracy obliges you to vote? Literally, everyone must vote come voting season, be it president, governor, mayor, senator, congressman.

In other countries people argue that voting should be mandatory because of chronically low turnout. There are advantages and disadvantages to both models.

Who would have been your preference to win?

There wasnt a candidate I really sided with, tho I do like Eduardo Jorge and he recently partnered with Marina Silva, which made his cause stand out a bit more, but they were no where near likely to win, so i voted for the most able bodied party not named Bolsonaro and not with PT for obvious reasons in the first round, in the second i had no choice to vote PT

Do you think Campos would've won if he survived?

I dont share your optimism about the prospect of Bolsonaro's economic reforms, but I think you raise an important point that goes under the radar in most international coverage. The point being that Brazil has some serious fiscal problems, that were hampering the country and cant simply be attributed to some sort of anti-left conspiracy. Also think international coverage understates the downsides of PT rule, that have helped pave the way for the present.

You should post more often in this thread, helpful to get the view of a Brazilian in Brazil.

Important to add that Bolsonaro's worst/most Trumpist instincts will be curtailed by global realities and Brazil's position vis-a-vis them, in ways that Trumps cant.

In comments to reporters throughout Tuesday, Bolsonaro said that he was no longer inclined to merge the agriculture and environment ministries as he had previously planned. On China, a country the president-elect has long regarded with suspicion, he said he wanted to expand trade. In response to a question about his plans to move Brazil’s embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Bolsonaro said that it was "not a point of honor".

While the former Army captain said the military would have a key role in his government, he also reiterated his commitment to the rule of law.

Also backed down on withdrawing from the Paris Climate accord.
