And the distinctions remain relevant. For example, I wonder if, like you quoting De La Soul at length, someone would be remembering and quoting points made by O.T. Genasis 18 years from now :sas1:

Nope, only the real survive the test of time.

That's why most of them wack nikkas from 2006-2009 have disappeared.

The O.T Genasis dude is a talented artist. He's just making parody tracks which ironically get burn as legit bangers, because the music industry is so trash now nobody can tell the difference. :bryan:

Theres alot of life imitating art also. Blacks are the only race where music dictates so much of the culture. What these rappers say and do become trends. If rappers made dressing like a grown man, education and started shunning the gang/prison lifestyle then it would become "cool" for kids to follow. Of course im not saying that would cure all problems but it would help tremendously. I think we're all underestimating the power and influence these rappers havea

Yeah, I agree wit u.

Hes talking about selling it. Not using it. And listening to rap music doesn't give kids access to drugs. People who are gonna be drug addicts are gonna be drug addicts regardless of what they listen to.

Op if you think hes so trash why don't you get a beat and do better? Different strokes for different folks. And most kids now a days aren't interested in pseudo intellectual rhymes. I know i'm not. I prefer an ignorant ass song that makes me feel some type of way. I use music to forget my problems and to motivate me. Not so i can sit around and reminisce about the bullshyt i gotta live everyday. Thats why i like chief keef. Not cuz i shoot nikkas. But because it makes me feel some type of way to hear him say that dumb shyt and really believe it.

And thats the other thing, most people who listen to this kind of music don't take it seriously.

Of course it doesn't, nobody said that it does. It makes some want to try the drug though.
