Skyscraper is ehhhh.

I predicted $300M WW

With a $125M budget, the film being heavily marketed, and most of the gross being overseas( mostly in China to boot) I don’t think it will break even at theatres. I’m sure it will get there at home video and such down the line.

It’s at that level where it’s not a success but not really a flop just kind of there

Not a terrible opening for spike lee, was hoping for more but let’s see if the legs can carry it.
It isn't in that many theaters currently though right? Isn't it only in like 1500 theaters or something currently. In contrast a bomb like The Spy Who Dumped me is still in over 3000 theaters in its second week.

Yeah it’s not in super wide release. Hopefully it gets an expansion of some sort the next couple weeks.

Give WB some credit. I thought all the critic shaming, plus the key elements saying they wished for a better film, yet lo and behold, audiences just wanted to see Shark fukkery. The question for "The Meg" is will there be any kind of legs. I honestly don't know. China might eat this shyt up though.

China is already eating this shyt up. I think it's going to open north of $50M in China. The Meg cost too much to make but WB did a great job with the marketing (and shark fukkery) as they usually do and they gonna end up making this a win. It reminds me of their Tarzan joint. Everyone was expecting a flop and then writers were in denial when it actually ended up doing ok.

Respect to WB because they and Universal are the only major studios still taking chances.

Also low key Statham just outperformed The Rock this Summer :lolbron:

That is actually a really good opening. It grossed $11,000,000 at 1,512 theaters and has over a $7,000 per theater average. In addition, it is within the top grossing movies at every theater in which it is playing, so it is going to have staying power in those theaters and also expand through Labor Day, which is a really nice boost for movies that are not opening.

Wonder Woman's numbers are lowkey impressive, the more you look at it and put it in perspective.

4th highest grossing solo movie of all time, and legged it out after having a lower opening weekend than all but 3 movies in the top 20. :ehh:
