I think Batman/Superman tops out around $160M opening weekend. Superhero movies are starting to fall a tiny bit and people will be concerned it might not live up to what they want Superman to be and all that bullshyt. So, I think those Star Wars records are going to be safe for a long time.
We will never see a film event like this again.

The only movies i like to be under 2 hrs is comedies....everything else should be at 2.10-2.30 range
1.25-1.45 for comedies.
1.45-2.00 for non-comedies.
2.20> better be a good movie for me to sit that long.

Glad to hear it. Because fukk Jurassic World. Not that it was a terrible movie but it didn't deserve those numbers it pulled at all. Doesn't deserve to hold any records. :camby:
It still has the worldwide record at least until morning:sas2:

“The Force Awakens” could not trump “Jurassic World’s” record worldwide debut of $524.9 million, but that film also benefited from an opening in China where it made more than $90 million in its first weekend of release. The latest “Star Wars” doesn’t hit the People’s Republic until Jan. 9.

At least there was a good reason. :mjcry:

hell naw...bvs is gonna do closer to $200 mil, easy....bats and supe are 2 of the only characters that can have that star wars effect, no matter the bullshyt people spit....the only thing that might hurt it is if it's a bad movie, but even then, people are gonna go the first weekend to find out for themselves.....

true, those star wars records are gonna last a long time cause nothing is gonna do these numbers except other star wars movies....VIII is gonna break this record, and if that is a good movie, IX is gonna break that one....

I got to go back and find some of those movie lists from early this year that predicted that Jurassic World would be a financial bomb. :mjlol:
Heh.

To be fair, the trailers all made the movie look horrible (And it was kinda bad, tbh).

But yeah, the nostalgia, and dinosaurs, just blew the door of the hinges.

This movie was the perfect storm of hype and timing. We won't see anything near this for a while

SO..... Does this put to bed the notion that you have to open your movie in the summer for it to sale big? like thre is some study that said people only want to go to the movies in the summer:rudy:... can we start spreading these movies out and putting effort back into the storytelling now? I don't give a fukk about star wars but if this is the residual effect than I :salute:this franchise...
