Maybe it’s a smokescreen but either way Ainge will always try to finesse
I'm just saying, I'm sure Ainge would prefer for Lauri to sign today just so the option to trade him later this season is still there.
This is a rare situation where the player has all the leverage. By just waiting a day, Lauri basically ensures he stays in Utah at least the entire season.
The report from Shams is that they’re gonna agree to it today then he’ll sign it tomorrow or later so he can’t be traded this season
Maybe Ainge renegs but if it’s true I doubt it
Theoretically he could just take the money now and use his trade kicker to deter getting traded.
