Dude covered more genres on ONE ALBUM:
Love_Symbol_Album_%28Prince_and_the_New_Power_Generation_album_-_cover_art%29.jpg

My Name is Prince (Hip-Hop)
Sexy M.F (Funk)
Love 2 the 9’s (R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop)
The Morning Papers (Soft Rock)
The Max (Pop, Hip-Hop)
Blue Light (Pop, Reggae)
I Wanna Melt With You (Techno)
Sweet Baby (Soul, R&B)
The Continental (Rock)
Damn U (Soul, R&B)
Arrogance (Funk)
The Flow (Hip-Hop)
7 (Pop, World)
And God Created Woman (R&B)
3 Chains o’ Gold (Prog Rock)
The Sacrifice of Victor (Funk)

Than R. Kelly has in his entire career. All written, produced, and Performed by one person. And brehs think he’s on the level of Prince
:mjlol:
All those songs arent good though. Its like Nas groupies hyping up Rewind cause it was different. Some music fans annoy the shyt outta me with the internet cappin

You know what...I’ll give you the versatility argument for Prince.

But for me personally, although Prince is a great artist, a lot of his music is too eccentric for me. So yes, he is more versatile but I prefer Prince’s mainstream tracks while I can enjoy others released & b-side tracks.
:ehh: I can respect that. My ex liked the time more than prince because she found his music to be too eccentric. For me personally, that’s the most appealing feature of his work.

Dudes in here naming all of these classic songs...But haven’t listened to any of them since they left their parents home. But had R Kelly playing in the background on damn near every date.
I listen to prince err’day, but he’s my favorite artist :manny:

The album was critically acclaimed and Rewind is a good song. What’s your criteria for something being good then?

Nas is not a good example. For example, people hype up his debut album as if that’s the end all, be all of his career. When truly, Illmatic is not even my favorite album of his.

Nas’ music, at first glance, appears to be eccentric b/c of the beat selection, but as the years go by & we see rap being more dependent on trendy beats, Nas’ music is more timeless than eccentric. If you’re gonna name an eccentric artist, MC Doom seems to be a better example.

and when was the last time you heard r Kelly unless they are on some me2... Brehs aren’t really listening to these dudes like that anymore unless you dudes are in your 50s.

kellz is on play...people will occasionally put on mj or prince but that’s the safe music play list.

Lol,yall still trying to put Kelz up there when thriller sold more records than his whole career?

Stevie fingerprints are all over Motown. Playing, writing or producing for in done combo of damn near ever Motown hit from the late 60s on. Don't even think most people realize this. Not to mention did the same with many of Michael's don't well after he left Motown. Strangely no one is mentioning how many times this dude had been samples for hip hop records. Probably the most underrated influence on modern music. In his prime, modern black music moved when he moved at a time where black music made some dramatic shifts. He was at the center of it all. The 90s and 2000s weren't that create of a time in r&b. Historically it didn't move the needle when you look at it vs 1970-1990..

Prince may be the better comparison, but unless Kelz keeping secrets he wasn't the musician Prince was, not does he have the tentacles and musical legacy Prince left. Amazing how much great music came out of his original group. The variety of songs he performed, write and produce that ended up at hits was incredible.

But I guess we giving that Jodeci discount to Kelz

Not to mention, rumor has it that there’s an entire Jackson 5 album written and produced by Stevie sitting in Motown vaults. Only one track from the sessions, “Buttercup”, was released:

Now I agree that Prince, MJ, and Stevie Wonder are better artist (performance, writing, ect... But Hit for Hit Kellz is beating Prince and Stevie Wonder but not MJ only bc he was Pop and been in the game since he was young
