Reading the sequel to Standing at the Scratch Line, Echoes in the Summer by Guy Johnson.

so far its good, a little to slow but given the protagonist and his situation its understandable

An update from my last post. I'm currently reading:
  • The secret teachings of all ages (Hall, 1928)
  • The swords of glass (Corgiat & Zuccheri, 2014)
  • Avengers vs. Thanos (Starlin, Friedrich, Englehart & Gerber, 2013)
  • Mexico: Architecture, Interiors, Design (Bradbury & Luscombe-Whyte, 2004)
  • The Creative Writing Student's Handbook (Hartigan & James, 2014)
  • Black Panther: The Ultimate Guide (Wiacek, 2018)

Apart from "The Swords of Glass", I'm still reading the same books.

I've purchased more books though:

Since I last visited this thread, the books I've read that I'd recommend:

Binti by Nnedi Okorafor - I only read thr 1st part of the trilogy but it's fun sci-fi. I bought the 2nd part, Home, but I haven't started it yet.

The Last Good Kiss by James Crumley - great if you love a good hard-boiled detective novel.

Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain - Goddamn could this guy write. I loved this book. You learn a whole stuff about the inner workings of a restaurant.

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn - first time I've read one of her novels. Put this one among my collection of favorites in my Kindle when I was done.

Right now I'm about 70% done with Dreamland by Newton Thornburg. Another crime novel. Its a decent read so far.

If you like crime fiction breh, google Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald podcast The Watch. Those dudes are obsessed with crime fiction novels. I know they recommend a lot of Elmore Leonard books.

Because of them I read Queenpin (Megan Abbott) and The Last Good Kiss. Both books were really good. Bought Every Man a Menace, the next book in their podcast book club, but I haven't started it yet.

They have a Tumblr page with some of their recommendations.

This book was HAAAAAAAAARRRRRRD. If you're into modern crime fiction I highly recommend it. It circles around all of the parties involved in a giant intercontinental drug deal.
