Suggestions for books on African American masculinity?

I was going to buy "The Man-Not" by Tommy Curry, is it a good book?

What was your thoughts on The Nickel Boys?
I liked Underground Railroad better. The Underground Railroad worked for me because it was heavy social commentary. You could tell what was social commentary, what was based on real events and what was fantasy elements interjected.

Nickel Boys you cant tell what was real and what was added in. And the story/plot doesnt move quickly enough to keep it going. I can handle torture porn if there's other elements to make it a compelling read. Nickel Boys was just torture porn and a hard for me to read.

Finished this a couple weeks ago, what are your thoughts? I think his argument is pretty solid. I've listened to a couple of podcasts with Blow and the one with Larry Wilmore was the most contentious, but Blow was able to articulate counterarguments to all of Wilmores criticism. And the main criticism being that most of the problems found in the north are still prevalent in the south, to which Blow responded that even if that's true, the concentration of Black people in the south would allow them to make changes at both the federal and state level with greater impact than what's currently possible in the north.

Light read, but breaks down every country and city he went to on his shows an his thoughts he had at the time on various pieces. Would have been better if he was still alive when ti got finished, because he barely got a few hours of thoughts into it before he passed.

Finished reading Project Hail Mary last week. Excellent book. It's by Andy Weir, author of The Martian. I highly recommend it.

Icebeg Slim's book is funny but tragic. Decent read, I give it a 7/10
I loved that book. I gave it a 5/5 rating. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but that whole world was fascinating.

This shyt TRAAAAAAAAAAASH. I made it 3 chapters

Unfortunately this has been the sentiment all around for this book. He tried to catch lighting in a bottle twice. He should have moved on and created another story that played to his strong suits. For instance, Project Hail Mary. It's clear that Andy Weir is an ex-engineer/scientist of some sort. And he understands that stuff so well that he can make an interesting story from it. The Martian and PHM feel like they could be in the same universe almost, but it's clearly two different stories. Ernest Cline could have come up with another story that was heavily powered by 80's/90's pop culture fanaticism. But he chose to cash in and be lazy. SMH.

On a related/unrelated note, is anyone else using Goodreads? I created an account to track my reading progress but haven't dove into it too much
