This is a/the thread that we need, it should be stickied somewhere, is it possible or can we add synposis' of the books that we are listing, we have economics, some on self-esteem/awareness, some on racism, legal injustice, black history, some are biographies and autobiographies. theres too many gems on here and for the ones that nobody has ever heard of rather than just dumping a bunch of pictures or names of titles a description (which can be gotten from any amazon site or whatever) will let nikkas know what they are about to read or what they may be interested in.

I love books like the miseducation of the negro, I prefer the psychology and sociology as it pertains to being black more than economics for me. (I think anyone of any color can make money or learn how to, but a black child being raise and held to unattainable standards and such of white children by white teachers and white curriculum designers is a nightmare but im not going to derail the thread)-

we have a myriad of books but just dropping an assload of topics is almost counterproductive for someone like me who will hit up amazon and buy 10 books right now.
Updated. You're totally correct by the way, this thread should be stickied

Deconstructing Tyrone: A New Look at Black Masculinity in the Hip-Hop Generation

512JE4BrDVL._SX340_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Some info on the book :

Two smart Black women break the Tyrone code — with affection, with respect, but with no illusions.
Black men as fathers, sons, teachers, lovers, rap stars, professionals, fantasy objects, and cultural constructs — a multifaceted picture of American Black men today.
You know Tyrone. Smooth-talking, irresistible Tyrone — the swagger in his step, the sexy drawl, the poetry and rhythm in his essence — the militant revolutionary of the 1960s evolved into the pimp/thug of the hip-hop era. Tyrone is the Black man seen through the media lens, through stereotype, through the eyes of Black women. He’s "Talk Show Tyrone," all muscle and defiance, “an archetype converted to a hit single.”
In Deconstructing Tyrone, the authors, journalists Natalie Y. Moore and Natalie Hopkinson, examine Black masculinity from a variety of perspectives, looking not for consensus but for insight. With chapters on Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, on the complicated relationship between women and hip-hop, on babydaddies, on gay Black men on and off the down low, on strippers and their fathers, on Black men in the office, at school, and in jail, Deconstructing Tyrone presents a multifaceted picture of American Black men now.

info :

This is a book that every HUMAN should read. This book has had monumental effect on my outlook on life. I see so many people (especially black males) living chaotic lives. We as a collective group have become so absorbed in negative thinking that it truly hinders our sense of fulfillment. I believe the teachings of this book could be of great benefit to blacks as collective given the enormous amount of historical suffering we've endured( Echart Tolle would call it our collective pain body) . Upon the surface this book may appear to be teaching you to turn the other cheek. In actuality it teaches you how to prioritize stresses in your life.
