The EP was actually nice, listened to it a couple of days ago, good prequel to boldface.
It's funny, I really hated that Boldface EP when it dropped and thought it was a frisbee. It's grown on me now and I like it. There's not much on there I'd take over basically every song on Tea in China, but it's still solid.

I have the album on a playlist, followed by the EP, and the whole run sounds good.

I can't wait for the follow up later this year.

you think alchemist will ever go back to his old style (Rapper's Best Friend Instrumentals 1-4) when his drums used to cause car alarms to go off with a sound system.

Sadly, I think not.

I was listening to a lot of that era Al last week. Return of the Mac. HNIC 2. Weatherman. 1st Infantry. Chemical Warfare. Cats & Dogs.

I feel like we'll get stuff that knocks here and there like the Lulu EP beats, 5 to 50, Slow Roll, Bernadines, and beats like those. But I think the days of the heavy, thick basslines with the heavy ass drums that you feel all the way in your chest are probably done with.

That was my favorite era of his beats. I still think he makes dope shyt, but I also think he makes some super lazy shyt too.

EDIT: My 1st Chemistry Set is the closest we got. Go check that again, and every single beat on there has hard ass drums and bass. That was 2013, and I swear when I heard it I thought were were gonna get the old Alc back. But the more time passes, I think that was just one time thing.
:mjcry:
EDIT 2: The new Rapper's Best Friend 6 is horrible. It seemed like a lazy cash grab to me. Only a handful of joints on there (if that many) were worthy of an entry into the RBF series. :francis:

Damn Iโ€™ve playing all his instrumental shyt lately, thatโ€™s sad on RBF6. Yeah sometimes I feel alchemist just phones it on, I feel like if he worked with Nas more he would use those drums like he did on Lost Tapes 2

Yeah that, No Idols with Domo and Albert Einstein was the last time he was putting those heavy ass drums in his beats. What do you call it when the beat transitions from one song to the other like as a continuation or makes it seem like it's one long song. Alchemist did it a lot on My First Chemistry Set and Russian Roulette, almost like a concept of telling a story and each song is a new chapter or episode.

listened to this again last night and today in the car, that bass HITS. It's just a down temp compared to uptempo or breakbeat.
