Today was very predictable. I told people when Trump was talking, it will jump huge if you're interested in quick flips. If it goes back down and even below 18K I'm good with that because I got more money to invest

A company will pay a quarterly dividend so lets say Company A pays $1 in dividends annualized with a stock price of $10. The yield is 10% ($1/$10).

Now lets say the price goes to $20. The yield is now 5% ($1/$20)

So fo you, your yield is dependent on your cost basis in the stock. If you own Company A at an average price of $8, then the yield to you is 12.5% ($1/$8)

You get paid a fixed dividend number quarterly.

The current yield of a company is just a translation of the annualized dividend / current market price

Your yield of that company is just the translation of the annualized dividend / your purchase price
