Obviously oil isnt going anywhere for awhile. I used to really like XOM and CVX a few years ago. It sounds like a oil price war is breaking out and is killing oil prices, so i can't say what a good entry would be but i think there's still value there. But to your point, i might listen to that Whitney Tilson guy in your article. That guy used to be THE analyst for oil on wall street.

Actually to piggyback on my earlier reply to @El_Mero_Mero, I cant remember a day where oil has much as it's fallen today. I'd definitely stay away from anything oil until this russia and coronavirus thing shakes out.

Unless you're taking a very long view (i.e. years) I wouldn't buy XOM until this stuff shakes out.

You'd have to be insane to be buying energy stocks. I was positive on energy going into the second half of the year but the conditions are miserable right now.

It will recover. You want to be buying stocks on their way down from a panic because you get a better deal. Continue to average down and buy small amounts as they fall because you don't really know when the bottom happens.

Futures on the S&P 500 were halted Sunday nightafter they declined 5%. So-called circuit-breaker levels are the thresholds at which exchanges halt or close marketwide trading due to extreme declines. These levels are calculated daily, based on the previous day’s close in the S&P 500.

Woooooo wee! Monday is gonna be a bloodbath. I've been sitting on the sideline waiting for this moment. Gonna be a big buyer at these lows. So many stocks out there I'm eyeing that can fall below my entry price target.

Sucks I sold all my TVIX shares. Would've been huge by now. Profit is profit but I've been leaving a lot of money on the table lately.
