Blueprint 3 is a guilty pleasure album. I like every track.

BP3 >Magna Carter.

I'm a Jay Stan but I revisited Magna carter lately and it's bad bad
I'm a massive Jay fan too ( a little short of a Stan though) and you're dead on. Magna Carter is terrible. I think it's definitely Jay's worst album. I don't understand why anyone puts it above Kingdom Come. KC at least has a few bangers, and the Prelude intro on KC alone is >>> of any song on Magna Carter.

BP3 I enjoyed at the time, but I never ever go back to that shyt. Thank You might be my favorite joints on there, but the accent kind of dates it and kills it for me. Talking' Bout is a slept on Jay intro too. So Ambitious is possibly the most slept on Jay and Neptunes joint.

In hindsight it was sort of a Kanye and Timbo produced album, and the Kanye jams in a way sound like a precursor to Watch the Throne, especially Hate. The Kanye joints have held up better than the Timbo joints (which all weren't that dope to begin with and aged even worse.)

A lot of BP3 hasn't aged that well though. I can't imagine running it through from front to back.

Maybe I would feel different about the album had he not named it BP3. That series was a bit special to me, I enjoy BP2 more than most. The disappointment for not living up to the title I never could get over. Jay was shooting for the top of the charts and enlisted the hottest names on the charts to do so while also letting the Future (drake,Cole, cudi). I still hate Young Forever and how he closes concerts to that song years later. I should revisit it.
Same here breh. BP2 had a lot a lot of fire on it, and this is hardly a new take, but you can make a fire playlist with the best half of Blueprint 2. That's one album where Jay's excuse for it is accurate. It shouldn't have been a double album. That's it. There's 1 album's worth of really dope material there.

Naming the 2009 album Blueprint 3 really set the expectations too high, and I think it'd be remembered more fondly if had a title that lived on its own.

Edit: In general I hate when people number their albums. Like, sequels are almost never as good, and when you number them you make people think of the originals. I like what Ghostface and Evidence do (Fishscale and then More Fish...Weatherman and then Cats & Dogs). They can keep a theme going without numbering the albums 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. That's a way more creative approach. For example, I think I would like Bandana less if it were just called Piñata 2.

I thought More Fish, was fishscale leftovers?

That’s because BP2 was Jay at his very peak of his abilities

So it's not just me. I've been too embarrassed to admit it lol but this album came out at a perfect time when I was partying it up and living life in my young 20s. It's a classic to me in a weird way
I'm just saying...no need to feel embarrassed about it:manny:... because any album that drops when you're in your young 20's is usually going to be remembered positively. I think they say no matter what, 15-25 is sort of the age where everyone's favorite music drops. Whatever dropped when you were coming of age and enjoying your youth is the music you'll always love.

Even if BP3 isn't that great, you have a lot of fun life memories attached to it, so you can't separate it from that part of your life.

I've heard that too, but maybe it's a mix of leftovers and new joints? I only say that because one of my homies from high school K. Slack did a beat on More Fish, and was asked to send Ghost a beat CD after FIshscale dropped. I always assumed he wasn't the only person asked for beats.

i lied, Empire State is unlistenable now to me.

But everything else is groovy
So if this collection of songs, Empire State or Mind is unlistenable? :comeon:
