The rest I don't bother with. "Empire State of Mind" was a song I liked, but its overplayed.

Empire State of Mind is one of WOAT Hov songs. I remember seeing this on the track listing and thinking something gully east coast shyt yet to my surprise it turned out being a soundtrack to a broadway musical.
It literally is an attempt at grabbing some of the marketshare of that Sinatra song of the same subject ...

When you think of it like that, it's brazen and gully as fukk

When you think about it, this was the album that extended Jay's run and brought back his mainstream success. Eminem followed the same formula with Recovery and it wouldn't surprise me if he looked at what Jay did with BP3.

Huge, inescapable hits, features with young, up-and-coming stars, more of a blatant pop sound. It's nowhere near his best work, but it started a new era of him dominating the charts. Combine that with his Kanye collaborations and it was a very successful era for him.
