Rocky Mount residents on edge after recent gang-related shootings
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Authorities have made four arrests recently in a string of gang-related shootings in Rocky Mount.
On Feb. 18, Rocky Mount resident Harold Bunn said gunfire from a car traveling on Burton Street hit his home.
“Scary; I was scared,” Bunn said. “I heard shots—boom, boom, boom.”
Bunn said his 12-year-old nephew—who was sitting outside during the incident—fell inside the front door with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The 12-year-old was not the intended target, Bunn said.
The next day, McKayda Dracy, 13, was hit by a stray bullet on 902 Nashville Road after an argument escalated between two nearby groups, authorities said.
Police said a third shooting occurred recently inside a home on Woodland Avenue. Nobody was injured in the incident, according to authorities.
Investigators said they believe the three shootings were related to gang activity in the Rocky Mount area.
"While we seek and apprehend perpetrators of gun violence, we recognize that a comprehensive public health approach to addressing this growing gun violence crisis is necessary,” said Rocky Mount Police Chief James Moore.
Police told WRAL News that more arrests related to the shootings are expected. Authorities are currently searching for LaQuan Allen, 24, of Rocky Mount, who is also tied to the shooting of the 13-year-old girl.
Those Fayetteville areas
And don't forget Goldsboro
Wonder if/how long it will last
They need to do the same thing right next door in Durham too
A STEP TOWARD PEACE? RALEIGH GANGS DECLARE TRUCE
It seems unlikely, but gang members declare a truce in southeast Raleigh.

RALEIGH (WTVD) --
As music blared and curious neighbors looked on from their porches, a powerful message of unity played out in southeast Raleigh on Monday night.
What neighbors witnessed on Quarry Street may be a first -- red bandannas and blue bandannas held in the air, together. Members of rival gangs, Bloods and Crips, were marching united. The gangs announced they had declared a "truce."
"Not one of you are enemies," Community activist Diana Powell said to the groups as they stood together in the middle of Quarry Street Park.
Powell played diplomat between the two sides in the months leading up to Monday night.
The neighborhood's youngest residents were invited to watch. In the wake of the police shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota, and the ambush on officers in Dallas- Powell has faced tough questions from kids.
"They said when they think of police officers, police officers kill black people," Powell said. "And not only do they look at police officers as killing black people, they look at gang members as killing each other ... so, now it's time to turn the channel."
And so, Monday night was a first step.
"This is what I want to say to you all, don't let this be just a moment, let it be a movement," Powell told the gang members.

Shine Pulley, a former gang member, now trying to turn his life around, also addressed the group. He said he was hopeful the moment would be laying the groundwork for a holding peace.

"That's what we out here for, trying to stand out here in unity, trying to bring everything together," Pulley said.

Even Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown was there, although only for a moment. The chief was briefed on what was set to happen before departing for another community peace vigil.
But District Court Judge Vince Rozier was here for it all, and was cautiously optimistic.
"If Bloods and Crips, who usually are against each other on the sheer nature of a bandanna, can come together -- then there's so much more hope for the rest of this country," Judge Rozier said.
"They said it would never happen," was a phrase uttered many times on this night. And, while the truce did happen, no one can be certain where it goes from here.
Will the truce hold? How do you keep the peace?
Important questions this community will now consider in the days and weeks ahead.

My lil sis lives in Rocky Mt breh. Dead smack in the middle of some lil wild hood There's ALWAYS something going on, on her block, when I go visit her weekly.
Whether it's a shooting just happened or it's n!ggas outside arguing with half the block , always something
The only reason I'm able to sleep aite at night is because she has 3 huge in-house pitbulls, she's married so her hubz is there a lot, and she has lil .22 rifle that she keeps ready.
Poverty in Eastern NC is off the charts you're right breh.
Those little ass towns like New Bern, Kinston, Goldsboro, Lumberton, Laurinburg, etc, all = get your wig pushed back real quick
Wtf is wrong with these nikkas
I know the nikka from LA who started the Crips in Durham. Before that Durham was split up by hoods, you repped your hood but after Bloods and Crips were introduced that's when nikkas started throwing up flags. Honestly the introduction of gangs was unnecessary cuz people were already clique up. It was just some bullshyt that people wanted to subscribe to that was glamorized by music and film.
The bay a few hundred miles away from LA ain't even let b&c setupIt was wild corny for nikkas in NC to allow B&C's to set up shop

I honestly don't believe all these sets are connected to L.A. Lists like the one posted in this thread are part of the reason why I don't buy all that "L.A. gangs set up shop here" nonsense. Yeah, I'm sure a few people touched down, but most of this shyt gotta be made up. 30s, 40s, 60s, Hoover, Grape Street? Seems like nikkas just pulled some popular names from the internet. I don't even need to talk about the UBN sets. Certain places in California don't even have crips and bloods, but they managed to make it almost everywhere else in the country? It was wild corny for nikkas in NC to allow B&C's to set up shop
