I'm just starting this for the first time, I am NOT a souls veteran, I've played them here and there and I got like 70% of the way through Sekiro. This game is incredible and terrifying. The art design is stunning, I love the gothic horror vibe a lot. Which obviously the Dark Souls/Demon Souls games have some of that vibe as well but there's something more special about this one just based on my brief play through. I really dig the game but holy shyt am I horrible. This shyt reminds me of the terror I felt as a youngin playing Ocarina of Time when it turned night and the ghouls emerged and attacked.

My favourite game of this generation. First fired it up after a bad ankle break put me out of action - putting hours into this on opioid painkillers was :whew:

The horror aspect really kicks into over drive in the second half of the game. Completely different than the first half. You'll see what I mean.

Ninja Gaiden Black is my all time favourite game, Bloodborne pushes it real close.

I've got two trophies left to platinum this game, weapon master and beating the Chalice Dungeon final boss!

Two builds, one in the upper 150's as a strength build with the big shyts like the Church Cannon, Gatling gun. The other one in the upper 190's skill/arcane with a shyt load of weapons maxed out.

Does anyone here have a good grasp of the Chalice Dungeons? I've used all of the available gravestones to conduct the rituals. Do I clear them off to get to new dungeons?

You get materials to make new dungeons from exploring all the dungeon depths. The bosses in the dungeon were more challenging than the ones in the main game to me, but I beat the dungeon final boss before beating the main game on later playtthroughs.

I've killed about 4 bosses now, definitely getting more and more into the lovecraft c'thulu vibes with the statues of alien creatures and shyt. Loving it. I ran into a boss I think I'm really underleveled for (the big electrified werewolf looking dude) so I had to explore other areas and found a couple bosses I missed. I've read most people consider Sekiro more challenging, which so far I agree with, but I don't find that it diminishes the game, it's still fairly punishing and easy to die/fukk up.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. It goes full Lovecraft in the second half of the game.

"Sekiro" over all is harder than this but the Chalice Dungeons in this can be harder than anything in "Sekiro". Especially the ones where you only have 1/2 HP and gotta fight the regular bosses.
